Southeast Families-
This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School.
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! We are certainly lucky to have an amazing group of teachers at Southeast Alamance and I hope that this week we can show them how much they are appreciated. Thank you to everyone that has donated items for teachers this week. If you have a few minutes this week, please email your child’s teachers to let them know how much you appreciate them for the work that they do.
Congratulations to Tyler Jones and Joey Pritchard for qualifying for the NCHSAA Regional Golf Championship that will be held on Monday at The Preserve Golf Club in Chapel Hill.
Our attendance rate for the last week was 88.9%. Our freshman class led the way with a 91.8% attendance rate. Your child must be at school and on time to be successful in their classes. We have made a slight adjustment to our tardy policy for the 4th quarter of the year. Click here to view the updated tardy policy. Please help us by ensuring that your child is at school on time everyday.
We will begin AP Testing this week. The following tests will be administered on the date and time that is listed below. Please make sure that your child is at school on time in preparation for their exam.
AP Government - Monday @ 8:00
AP Seminar - Tuesday @ 12:00
AP Literature - Wednesday @ 8:00
AP Environmental Science - Thursday @ 8:00
AP Psychology - Thursday @ 12:00
AP US History - Friday @ 8:00
We are currently 4 weeks away from the start of exams. Please remind students of the Exam Exemption Policy. Just a reminder that students can only be exempt from teacher made exams. State EOC and CTE exams are mandatory for everyone. Below is the spring exam schedule. If students have a conflict with the exam schedule then please have them speak with their teacher.
We will continue to offer Saturday School on select Saturdays from 9:00 until 12:00. Students can use this time for extra tutoring to ensure that they are progressing in their classes. You can sign your child up for Saturday School by clicking on the link below.
We will be running an evening academy on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4:15 to 6:30. This is a great opportunity for your child to get some extra help if they need it. Please contact Bo Williamson at brandon_williamson@abss.k12.nc.us to sign your child up for our Evening Academy.
Senior parents…If you still need to order your cap and gown online at the link below. Please order yours as soon as possible as the price will continue to increase.
Prom Night 2024 was a great success. Our students seemed to have a great time and enjoy themselves. A big thank you to Mrs. Holloway, Mrs. Watson and the prom committee for all their hard work in planning and preparing to make our prom a success.
The district approved the calendar for the 24-25 school year at their BOE meeting earlier this week. The approved calendar is linked below.
In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up. If you have any questions please reach out to us.
Breakfast and lunch are not free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the application linked below. Our school currently has a negative balance of $3000. At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance. Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school. Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals. The free or reduced application is available in the main office or you can fill out the online application at https://www.lunchapplication.com/.
You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
