The Beginning of Southeast Alamance High School

On November 6, 2018 the voters of Alamance County passed a $150 million education bond that included $67 million for the construction of a new high school. This new high school would be the seventh comprehensive high school in the Alamance-Burlington School System and the first one since Hugh M. Cummings High School opened in 1970. On February 3, 2020 the Alamance County Commissioners approved the purchase of 96 acres at 3400 S. NC Highway 119. Soon to follow, the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education approved for Mosley Architects as the architect firm that would oversee the project and Samet was approved as the Construction Manager.

With all of these individuals and corporations in place, the Alamance-Burlington School System celebrated the beginning of construction for the New High School by breaking ground on Friday, May 28, 2021. ABSS leaders, community leaders, and elected officials gathered at the groundbreaking ceremony on the 96-acre property.

The Alamance-Burlington School System Board of Education voted during its August 30, 2022 meeting to name the new high school, Southeast Alamance High School. After receiving feedback from students, parents and staff the new Southeast Alamance High School will be known at the Stallions.  The Board of Education approved the mascot for the new Southeast Alamance High School on October 24, 2022.

Southeast Alamance opened its doors officially on Monday, September 11, 2023 to 885 students in grades 9 - 12. On October 30, 2024 the community gathered together for the official ribbon cutting.
