Southeast Families-

This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School.

Congratulations to Coach Sarratt and the Varsity Girls basketball team who qualified for the NCHSAA State Tournament and will host Hertford County High School in the first round on Tuesday.  Congratulations as well to Coach Williamson and the varsity boys basketball team who also qualified for the NCHSAA State Tournament.  They will travel to Roanoke Rapids HS on Tuesday for their 1st Round game.

Our average attendance rate for last week was up almost two percent from last week at  91.1% and we had 389 unexcused tardies.  Congratulations to the senior class that had the highest attendance rate last week at 93.1%.  Approximately 60% of the unexcused tardies are because students are late to 1st period.  Students must be in class by 8:45 each day.  Just as a reminder, students that are late because of a bus issue are excused.  Please help us by talking to your child about getting to each class on time.  You can review our new tardy policy by clicking on the link below.

This Tuesday we will administer the ACT to all juniors.  The ACT is mandatory for all juniors in North Carolina.  Students should report to Southeast on Tuesday and not to ACC or CTEC.  The ACT administration is anticipated to last until approximately 1:30 on Tuesday.  Juniors will not be allowed to check out early during the test administration.  Juniors have been emailed their testing room so that they know where to report on Tuesday.

We will be offering Saturday School this semester for students that need extra support in their classes.  Our next Saturday School is scheduled for this Saturday, March 2nd from 9:00 until 12:00.  Parents and students can sign their child up to attend at the link below.  If you have any questions regarding Saturday School then please contact Mrs. Crumel at alexis_crumel@abss.k12.nc.us.

We will also be running an evening academy on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4:15 to 6:30.  This is a great opportunity for your child to get some extra help if they need it.  Please contact Bo Williamson at brandon_williamson@abss.k12.nc.us to sign your child up for our Evening Academy.

Our school counselors, Ms. Toms and Ms. Rosario have begun course registration meetings with students. This process will take about a month. This week and most of next week, they are meeting with students currently in English classes. Next, they will move to Social Studies classes and then Science classes. If your child is not taking any of those courses this semester, then your child will be called in to meet with their counselors. They are meeting with each student individually, reviewing their current transcript, giving students a copy of their transcript and discussing course requests for next school year.   To learn more about the registration process and opportunities for your child in the Alamance-Burlington School System please visit the link below.

Please fill out the form below if you are interested in receiving emails in regards to second semester, summer, and 2024-2025 drivers education courses.

Senior parents…if you have not ordered your child’s cap and gown please do so as soon as possible as the price will continue to increase.  You can order your cap and gown online at the link below.

This week is the last week to reserve a copy of the 1st ever Southeast Alamance High School yearbook. You can purchase a yearbook for $70 at the link below. If you have any questions regarding our yearbook, please contact Ms. Katie Murray at katie_murray@abss.k12.nc.us.

We will hold our 2024 Junior/Senior Prom on May 4th at the Chairman's Retreat in Burlington.  Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased online.  The earlier you purchase tickets the cheaper they will cost.  If you are bringing someone from another school you will have to get a Prom Bid Form completed and turned it in to Ms. Miles in the Student Services Office by April 19th.

The district approved the calendar for the 24-25 school year at their BOE meeting earlier this week.  The approved calendar is linked below.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

Breakfast and lunch are not free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the application linked below. Our school currently has a negative balance of $3200.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The free or reduced application is available in the main office or you can fill out the online application at https://www.lunchapplication.com/.

You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
