Southeast Families-

This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School.

This week is National School Counselors Week.  We are lucky to have two amazing counselors at Southeast Alamance High School, Ms. Joy Toms and Ms. Kristin Rosario.  We are also lucky this year to have Mr. Joseph Zeigler as a school counselor intern.  These individuals do so much to help our students on a daily basis.  They play a vital role in the success of our school and I hope that you will take time this week to show them how much they are appreciated.

Our average attendance rate for last week was 93.2% and we had 339 unexcused tardies.  Congratulations to the freshman class that had the highest attendance rate last week at 93.7%.  Approximately 60% of the unexcused tardies are because students are late to 1st period.  Students must be in class by 8:45 each day.  Just as a reminder, students that are late because of a bus issue are excused.  Please help us by talking to your child about getting to each class on time.  You can review our new tardy policy by clicking on the link below.

We will be offering Saturday School this semester for students that need extra support in their classes.  Our next Saturday will be Saturday, February 17th from 9:00 until 12:00.  Parents and students can sign their child up to attend at the link below.  If you have any questions regarding Saturday School then please contact Mrs. Crumel at alexis_crumel@abss.k12.nc.us.

We will hold our annual Curriculum Fair this Thursday, February 8th from 4:30 to 6:30.  This will be a great opportunity for parents and students to come out and learn about all of the course options available at Southeast and throughout ABSS.  Representatives from Southeast, CTEC, ACC, the Elon Academy, and others will be here so that you can learn about all the options available.

This week students will be able to begin selecting classes for the 24-25 school year.  Our counselors will be meeting individually with students regarding their course selection for next year.  Our teachers have made course recommendations in Powerschool for next year and you will be able to view those as well once your child logs into Powerschool.  Instructions for students to access the course registration in Powerschool is linked below.

To learn more about the registration process and opportunities for your child in the Alamance-Burlington School System please visit the link below.

Please fill out the following form if you are interested in receiving emails in regards to second semester, summer, and 2024-2025 drivers ed courses.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

Breakfast and lunch are not free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the application linked below. Our school currently has a negative balance of $4,000.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The free or reduced application is available in the main office or you can fill out the online application at https://www.lunchapplication.com/.

You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
