Southeast Families-

This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School.

We had a great start to the spring semester last week.  The last day of schedule changes for the spring semester will be this Monday.  Students need to complete the course change request form that is on our school website if they are interested in making a change to their current schedule.

Our average attendance rate for last week was 95.9% and we had 182 unexcused tardies.  Congratulations to the freshman class that had the highest attendance rate last week at 97%.  The majority of the unexcused tardies are to 1st period.  Students must be in class by 8:45 each day.  Just as a reminder, students that are late because of a bus issue are excused.  Please help us by talking to your child about getting to each class on time.  You can review our new tardy policy by clicking on the link below.

We will be offering Saturday School this semester for students that need extra support in their classes.  Our first Saturday will be this Saturday, February 3rd from 9:00 until 12:00.  Parents and students can sign their child up to attend at the link below.  If you have any questions regarding Saturday School then please contact Mrs. Crumel at alexis_crumel@abss.k12.nc.us.

The ABSS Speciality Programs (Fine Arts Academy, Public Safety Academy, Skilled Trades Academy, AIMS Academy, and the Teacher Scholars) will have representatives at all four lunches on Wednesday, January 31st.  If your child is interested in learning more about these speciality programs then we ask them to stop by during their lunch.

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, February 8th as we will hold our annual Curriculum Fair at Southeast Alamance High School.  This will be a great opportunity for parents and students to come out and learn about all of the course options available at Southeast and throughout ABSS.  Representatives from Southeast, CTEC, ACC, the Elon Academy, and others will be here so that you can learn about all the options available.

ABSS is excited to invite you to their upcoming Family University event that will be held on January 29th from 5:30 - 7:30 at Cummings High School.  There will be lots of great sessions for you to learn more about opportunities for you and your child in our school district.  Childcare will be provided for students Pre-K through 5th grade and a light dinner will be provided.  I hope to see you there.

Please fill out the following form if you are interested in receiving emails in regards to second semester, summer, and 2024-2025 drivers ed courses.

The enrollment period for the Alamance Virtual School is from January 1st to January 31st.  If you are interested in enrolling your child in the Alamance Virtual School for the 2024-2025 School Year then please complete the enrollment form below.

The ABSS school board voted to revise the student calendar.  March 5th will now become a Required Teacher Workday and February 21st and March 13th (former early release days) will now become full student days. The new student calendar is linked below.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

Breakfast and lunch are not free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the application linked below. Our school currently has a negative balance of $4,100.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The free or reduced application is available in the main office or you can fill out the online application at https://www.lunchapplication.com/.

You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
