Southeast Families-

This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School.  I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.

Our Student Support Services Team is asking that families take a minute to complete the Needs Assessment Questionnaire that is linked below.  This form will assist our school's Student Support Services Team in knowing how best to support your child and family this school year.  Fill out only one form per family if there are multiple children at Southeast.  The information collected from this questionnaire is confidential.

Please make plans to come out to our winter band and chorus concerts this week.  Our chorus concert will take place on Thursday at 7:00 and our band concert will take place on Friday at 7:00.  Admission is free to both events, we hope that you will come out and enjoy some fantastic music this week.

This week our students that are enrolled in Math I, Math III, English II, and Biology will be taking NC Check-Ins.  It is important that they are at school and prepared to do their best.  Teachers will use the data from this assessment to help prepare students for their exams in January.

Our Key Club and Student Council are working together to collect canned foods to go to a local food pantry.  If you would like to donate canned foods or non perishable items, please send them to school by December 19th.

If you are still looking to spread some holiday cheer, we still have some gift tags on our giving tree at Southeast.  Tags are for gift cards and winter coats.  The tree is located in the SEHS Main Office and items are due by December 18th.

We will begin our fall semester final exams on January 10th.  Please note that final exams will count as 20% of your child’s final grade in their course.  Please take a minute to review the final exam schedule.  If you have any questions then please let us know.

Sophomore parents we will hold a sophomore parent meeting this Tuesday at 6:00.  We will be sharing your child’s Pre-ACT score reports with you and walking you through what those reports mean.  Please make plans to attend our Sophomore Parent Night on Tuesday at 6:00.

The ABSS school board voted to revise the student calendar.  March 5th will now become a Required Workday and February 21st and March 13th (former early release days) will now become full student days. The new student calendar is linked below.

Just a reminder that Evening Academy is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15-6:30.  This is a great opportunity for you to catch up on missing work, get tutoring in a core subject or recover credits from previous courses.  You must provide your own transportation.  Please contact Coach Williamson at brandon_williamson@abss.k12.nc.us if you are interested in attending our evening academy.

As we start winter sports, please remember that we do have a clear bag policy for all extracurricular events.  Please help us by ensuring that if you bring a bag to an event that it meets the clear bag policy.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

Breakfast and lunch are not free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the application linked below. Our school currently has a negative balance of $3,200.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The free or reduced application is available in the main office or you can fill out the online application at https://www.lunchapplication.com/.

You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
