Southeast Families-

This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School.  I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.

Congratulations to Mr. Hatley! Dylan was selected as our Staff Member of the Month for November. He has led the Marching Stallions as they brought home the first trophies in school history! As a first year teacher, building a brand new band program is a tough job. Mr. Hatley and his students worked tirelessly to put a competitive show on the field in their first year. The future of the band program is in good hands with Mr. Hatley and we are appreciative of all that he has done to get this program off the ground. You can catch the Marching Stallions in action this Friday night as they march in the Mebane Christmas Parade or on Saturday as they march in the Graham Christmas Parade.

Congratulations as well to Nia Johnson! Nia was selected as our November Student of the Month. Nia is an amazing student who attends school every day and jumps right into her school work. She independently checks the agenda for the class period, creates a plan to tackle each assignment, and completes quality work on time. Also, she writes extremely thoughtful short answer responses regarding the novels, short stories, and articles we read in class. Finally, Nia is a very likable person who works extremely well with others. Nia is a great representative of Southeast Alamance High School.

I need your help.  In the afternoons, please stay in the car rider line and not line up in the parking lot to pick up your child.  You are welcome to park in a parking space to wait, but please do not park behind parked cars.  Thank you in advance for your help as our goal is to get everyone out as timely and safely as possible.

The ABSS school board voted this week to revise the student calendar.  March 5th, 2024 will now become a Required Workday and February 21st, 2024 and March 13th, 2024 (former early release days) will become full student days. The new student calendar is linked below.

Just a reminder that Evening Academy is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15-6:30.  This is a great opportunity for you to catch up on missing work, get tutoring in a core subject or recover credits from previous courses.  You must provide your own transportation.  Please contact Coach Williamson at brandon_williamson@abss.k12.nc.us if you are interested in attending our evening academy.

As we start winter sports, please remember that we do have a clear bag policy for all extracurricular events.  Please help us by ensuring that if you bring a bag to an event that it meets the clear bag policy.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/

You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
