Southeast Families-
This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School. I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.
We had a great homecoming week with a lot of exciting events on campus. We held our first spirit week, named our first homecoming queen and king, and had our first homecoming dance. I am very thankful for all of our staff that help to plan, participate, and chaperone these events this week. Also, please don’t forget that we will hold our Powderpuff Football game on Tuesday night at 6:30. Tickets to Powderpuff will cost $5.00.
Congratulations to Mr. Hatley and the Marching Stallions, who competed for the first time at the Central NC Band Festival on Saturday. This was their first ever competition and they brought home several awards.
2nd Place Visual Ensemble
2nd Place Music Performance
2nd Place Class 1A Best Overall Band
Eddie Harris Award
Mr. Hatley and these students have worked really hard to put a competitive show on the field. They looked and sounded great on Saturday.
This week is the last week of the 1st quarter grading period. Please take a minute to check your child’s grades online. The first quarter grading period will count 40% of your child’s final grade in the course. If you have any questions then please contact your child’s teacher. In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up. If you have any questions please reach out to us.
Our football team is having a wonderful season. They are currently 6-1 in conference play and we will host Cummings High School on Friday for our last regular season game. If we beat Cummings on Friday then we will clinch the conference championship. It should be a great game on Friday between two great teams. I hope you will make plans to attend as we will also recognize our senior cheerleaders, band members, dance team members, and football players prior to the game.
Also, our girls and boys cross country teams qualified for the regional cross country meet that will be held on Saturday morning in Cary. Good luck to them as well.
Finally, our soccer team will finish their regular season this week before starting the playoffs. They will celebrate their senior night on Wednesday as they play host to Cummings High School.
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/
You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
