Southeast Families-

This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School.  I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.

We are two weeks away from the end of the 1st quarter grading period.  Please take a minute to check your child’s grades online.  The first quarter grading period will count 40% of your child’s final grade in the course.  If you have any questions then please contact your child’s teacher.  In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

This week will be an exciting week on campus as we celebrate our first homecoming.  We have a lot of fun and exciting activities planned for students this week.  We hope that our students will participate and enjoy the activities, but students need to also remember our behavior expectations in the classroom.  Any student that receives a discipline referral and ISS or OSS this week will not be eligible to attend the Homecoming Dance on Saturday.  Students are encouraged to dress up for our theme days this week.  The theme days are as follows.

  • Monday - Barbie/Ken Day

  • Tuesday - Twin or Famous Duo Day

  • Wednesday -  Wild West or Country Club Day

  • Thursday - Pajama Day

  • Friday - School Colors Day

We are excited to announce that we will hold a Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 21st from 8:00 to 11:00.  Tickets can be purchased online for $12.00.  Ticket prices will increase to $15.00 on Monday, October 16th so please purchase homecoming dance tickets by the end of the day today.  Tickets can be purchased using the link below.  Students that want to bring a guest from another school will need to complete a guest form that must be completed before their guest can attend.  The forms are available in the Student Support Office.

ABSS will be holding an ABSS Family University which will give parents opportunities to learn about everything the district has to offer.  The event will take place on Monday, October 16th at Cummings High School.  All of our families are encouraged to attend this event.  Click here to learn more about what to expect at the ABSS Family University Event on Monday.

The NC Governor's School Information Session will be held in conjunction with the ABSS Family University. This session will be delivered during the SECOND session time slot (6:50-7:30).  Please reach out to Mrs. Kristin Rosario at kristin_rosario@abss.k12.nc.us for more information about Governor’s School.

Seniors, this week is college application week.  This is a week when many colleges and universities throughout the state waive their application fee.  Take advantage of this opportunity and apply to as many colleges as you want.  This week Mrs. Toms and Mrs. Rosario will be available to assist you with college application and your residency determination application

On Thursday, we will be administering the Pre-ACT to all 10th graders.  The state of North Carolina pays for all 10th graders to take the Pre-ACT and all 11th graders to take the ACT. The ACT is used by most colleges and universities for admission. At Southeast, we will administer the Pre-ACT on Thursday, October 19th. Students do not have to sign up as all 10th graders will take this assessment. Once we have students score reports back then we will hold a parent meeting to review these reports with you. It is very important that all 10th grade students are at school on Thursday, October 19th to take the Pre-ACT.  If you have any questions about the Pre-ACT administration then please contact Mrs. Alexis Crumel at alexis_crumel@abss.k12.nc.us.

Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/

You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
