Southeast Families-
This is Eric Yarbrough, principal at Southeast Alamance High School. Thank you all for a great first week at Southeast. I know that transportation continues to be an issue. It did improve on Thursday and Friday, but we still have a good amount of work to do as we have two many buses running double routes which causes students to get to school late or home from school very late. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to adjust routes in order to improve pick-up and drop-off times.
Please note that this Wednesday is now a regular student day and not an early release day. We will dismiss school on Wednesday at 3:45.
Just a reminder that students should not arrive at school prior to 7:30 in the mornings. When students arrive on campus they will need to report to the cafeteria. Students will not be allowed in the classroom hallways or upstairs until 8:35.
I was able to hold class meetings last week. During these meetings, I was able to introduce some of our staff and review expectations and procedures with them. I have linked a copy of the presentation below so that you can review it as well.
I try not to suspend students from school, as I know it is very important for them to be in class so that they get daily instruction from their teacher. Below is a list of things that students will automatically be suspended for if they were to occur.
Fighting
Possession of Drugs or Alcohol
Possession of a Weapon
Profanity directed at a Staff Member
Sexual Assault (Inappropriate Touching)
Vandalism of School Property
It is important for me to keep our students and staff safe at school. Please talk with your children about these expectations and the importance of communicating any issues with you or an adult on our campus. In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Please let us know if we can help you.
Parking Permits are now available for the 23-24 School Year. They cost $30 and they are nonrefundable. Parking permits will be on sale all year so if your child will get their license later this year, you can buy a permit once they have their license. Please click the link below to purchase a parking permit for the 23-24 school year. Students that have applied for the parking permit and paid the $30 fee, can pick up their pass in the main office any day this week between 9:00 and 3:00.
ABSS & Alamance County Health Department (ACHD) have collaborated to provide multiple immunization opportunities. These mobile immunization clinics have been arranged in different locations across the school district to promote the ability to attend for those that are in need of additional vaccinations, more specifically targeting the known needs of many of the 23-24 kindergarteners, 7th graders, 12th graders, as well as new enrollments. Just a reminder that ABSS has a clear bag policy for all athletic events. Please make sure that if you plan to bring a bag into any athletic event the bag must be clear. Thank you in advance for your help with this policy.
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form.
