Hello, Haw River families and friends. My name is Michelle Becker, and I look forward to meeting you all. I am excited to be a part of the family here at Haw River Elementary School. I am originally from Port Washington, NY. Port Washington is located on Long Island. I graduated from Long Island University with my Bachelor’s in General Education and my Master’s in Special Education at Hofstra University. I am currently working on my National Board Certification. I have been teaching for 23 years now. Last year I worked in the Chatham County School District as an EC teacher, and the other years were all in NY. My most important job in life has been being a mom. I have 16-year-old twins who are about to graduate high school. I have one boy and one girl. I am very proud of them. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to country music. My favorite group of all time is the Oak Ridge boys!! I grew up listening to them, and we have become family. I am very blessed to know them personally and professionally. God has been good to me.

Hello! My name is Beth Gilliam, and I am thrilled to be your new music teacher! I obtained my music degree from Western Carolina University in 2011, and I began my career teaching music in Lenoir County. For the past 7 years, I have resided in the Union Ridge community with my husband and have taught in Person County Schools. I am so excited to begin my 13th year in music education with the staff and students at Haw River Elementary! I look forward to sharing my passion for music while providing a safe, engaging, and creative outlet for kids.
