Meet this week’s teacher: Mrs. Ortiz! She is a 4th grade teacher at AVS.
Did you know that Mrs. Ortiz has been to 49 states?! The only one she has left to visit is Hawaii. Her hero is Ruby Bridges. If you spot Mrs. Ortiz outside of school, you might find her playing soccer, reading, playing disc golf, or taking pictures.
Mrs. Ortiz chose to teach at AVS because she enjoyed teaching virtually during the pandemic. She found that she could still form strong relationships with her students and deliver engaging lessons through a screen. When AVS became a reality, she knew that she wanted to be part of it!
Thanks Mrs. Ortiz for all you do at AVS! Tune in next Monday to meet the next AVS team member.

Meet this week’s teacher: Tonya Dobson! She is a 6th and 7th grade science teacher at AVS.
Did you know Ms. Dobson’s hero is her dad? Her favorite book is Noodle and the No Bones Day by Jonathan Graziano. She loves to spend time outside and hike. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she’d go to Iceland.
Ms. Dobson chose to teach at AVS because she knew she could connect with students and help them learn while she was happy at home during the day. One of her favorite parts of teaching online is having her dog Andi with her while I teach!
Thanks Ms. Dobson for all you do at AVS! Tune in next Monday to meet the next AVS team member!

Meet this week’s teacher(or admin/staff member): Ms. Mazzei! She is the K-5 PE Teacher at AVS.
If Ms. Mazzei could travel anywhere in the world, she’d go to New Zealand. When she was in school, her favorite subject was science. Her favorite family tradition is making gingerbread houses.
Ms. Mazzei chose to teach at AVS because teaching virtually has always been her passion. She believes that AVS offers an amazing opportunity to teach students and engage in smaller class sizes!
Thanks Ms. Mazzei for all you do at AVS! Tune in next Monday to meet the next AVS team member!

Meet this week’s teacher: Mr. Pycraft. He is a H.S. Math Teacher at AVS.
It is no surprise that Mr. Pycraft’s favorite subject when he was in school was Math! He enjoys building anything and everything, and if he could travel anywhere in the world he would go to Hawaii.
Mr. Pycraft chose AVS because he loves being able to communicate with my students all the time, using a variety of methods, and more importantly, that they can always get in contact with him.
Thanks Mrs. Pycraft for all you do at AVS! Tune in next Monday to meet the next AVS team member!
