"I am thrilled to be joining the Walter M. Williams Bulldogs!" Blackwell said. "I believe in prioritizing the holistic needs of students while instilling accountability, setting high expectations, and challenging them to dream harder and reach their fullest potential. Together with the Williams High School community, I am committed to preparing students to emerge as positively impactful pillars of society."
Throughout her career, Mrs. Blackwell has held various leadership positions, including her most recent role as Assistant Principal of Instruction and Advanced Placement Coordinator at the largest comprehensive high school in Durham, serving over 2,200 students. She has co-authored an African American Literature Seminar course, led professional development, presented at the NCASCD Conference, mentored beginning teachers, and was recognized as the 2013-14 and 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year before being promoted to assistant principal.
Mrs. Blackwell holds a Master of Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University and earned her teaching license through the NC Teach program at North Carolina State University. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and an Associate's degree in Accounting.
