About Walter M. Williams High School
Williams High School is located in the heart of Burlington and near Elon University. Walter M. Williams High School serves a diverse population of approximately 1200 young people with an emphasis on academic excellence and community involvement. The school opened in 1951 and began a long tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and the cultural arts. Williams is accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. We offer a comprehensive academic program, including Honors and Advanced Placement courses in all core subjects and a wide selection of career-technical and fine arts electives. We are also the only high school in Alamance County to offer the International Baccalaureate Program.
Williams High School is the only school in Alamance County that offers a National Academy Foundation affiliated Academy of Finance. We also offer a college credit dual-enrollment program with Elon University, Alamance Community College, and the NC Virtual Public High School. In Alamance County, Walter M. Williams leads other high schools in the percentage of students who pursue post-secondary education.
