Congratulations to Alexander Wilson Elementary on being recognized as a Participate Learning Global Leaders Showcase school! 🌍📚 This prestigious honor celebrates schools that cultivate students as true #GlobalLeaders, empowering them with the attitudes, skills, and knowledge needed to understand global issues, think critically, communicate effectively across cultures, and take action to improve our world. All 3rd-5th grade students gathered in the cafeteria for the banner reveal and recognition of Alexander Wilson's new Showcase status. Then, in the second half, every K-5 Spanish Immersion class took the stage, with students of all ages impressively demonstrating Spanish proficiency with cultural songs and skits. The 5th graders concluded the event by presenting an entire class project—originally created in Spanish—completely in English with remarkable poise and skill. Their ability to communicate across languages so effectively was an inspiring showcase of the global leadership cultivated at the school. We're so proud of the students and staff at Alexander Wilson Elementary for embodying what it means to be globally competent leaders and learners. Thank you to Participate Learning for this recognition and providing some great prizes for the staff and students! ¡Felicidades! 🥳

38 Days, 38 Schools: Alexander Wilson Elementary 🦅 Alexander Wilson Elementary School is a vibrant and engaging learning environment where students are at the center of everything. 🌟 This year's theme, "Together, We can Change the World!" has been brought to life through the school's designation as a Participate Learning Global Showcase School. All students have been actively involved in Action Projects tied to the Sustainable Development Goals, helping them recognize their importance as contributing members of society. 🌍 One of the highlights of the 2023-2024 school year has been the introduction of themed "color houses" that all students and staff were sorted into. 🏘️ This initiative has fostered a sense of community, friendly competition, and mutual support as members encourage one another to reach their full potential. From the sorting celebration in the fall to the quarterly house meetings and the collection of house points, the color houses have added an exciting layer of motivation and school spirit. 🏆 With a mission statement of "Empowering every Eagle, every day, to SOAR!!!," Alexander Wilson Elementary is committed to providing a rich and empowering learning experience for all students. 🦅 The collective efficacy of the staff and students in embracing each day's potential has made this an amazing school year so far, and the entire community is excited to finish strong! 💪

Thank you to Senator Amy Galey, Representative Stephen Ross, and Representative Dennis Riddell for visiting Broadview Middle, Alexander Wilson Elementary, and Eastern Alamance High as part of Bring Your Legislature to School Day. Dr. Harrison, principals, and other ABSS staff accompanied them along their tour across the campuses. During their visits, they had the opportunity to see classrooms in action, interact with teachers and students, ask and answer questions, and observe some of the great moments happening in our schools every day. Representative Ross even had an extra treat at Alexander Wilson, as his visit coincided with the school's Field Day festivities! Visits like these allow our elected officials to gain valuable insights into the daily operations, successes, and challenges faced by our schools. We appreciate their time and commitment to public education!
