Good Evening,

This is your Proud Principal, Mr. Garrett, with some important information for the week of December 16th, 2024.

Well, it's the Final Week before Winter Break. We want to remind all students to focus on academic excellence as we make this final push into our break. We have a busy week ahead of us, so please mark your calendars for the following events:

Our AYLA students have decided to spark some school spirit this week by sponsoring a Holiday Spirit Week. They came up with the following days: Monday is Wear Your Flannel Day, Tuesday is Ugly Sweater Day, Wednesday is Red & Green Day, Thursday is Dress as a Christmas Character Day, and Friday is Pajama Day.

Our Chorus Winter Concert will be on Monday, December 16th, at 6:15 p.m., and our Band Winter Concert will be on Tuesday, December 17th, at 6:15 p.m. Both concerts will take place in the Eastern Alamance High School Auditorium.

Our Title I Curriculum Night is on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We will be featuring a Spanish/Band/Chorus Showcase. Don’t miss an opportunity to experience our talented students' achievements in the arts! We will also have Teacher Presentations. Our teacher teams will present highlights of student achievements over the past 9 weeks. Each team will give a brief presentation to showcase students' academic growth and progress. We will also provide Parent Resource Stations & Sign-Up for Parent Conferences where you can receive helpful tools and strategies to support learning at home. Also, take an opportunity to sign up for upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences to connect one-on-one with your child’s teachers. Throughout the Evening: Fun Family Engagement. We will have Door Prizes, a Childcare Room providing a Supervised space for children to enjoy crafts and activities, and a Photo Booth to memorialize the event. Finally, there will be Food for the Family and an opportunity to receive Winter food assistance, available on a first-come, first-served basis. We have a fantastic evening planned for Wednesday, December 18th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, so mark your calendars, and we can’t wait to see you then!

We also have a busy week in sports. Wednesday, December 18th, Boys' and Girls' Basketball will host Graham Middle, while our Wrestling team will travel to Hawfields Middle School. On Thursday, December 19th, Boys' and Girls' Basketball will host Turrentine Middle School. Girls' Basketball and Wrestling begin at 4:45 p.m., while the Boys' game follows the conclusion of the girls' game.

Well, that's all for now. This is Mr. Garrett signing off from the Home of the Eagles, where I always say, "We're having fun, but we ain't playing."
