Good Evening,

This is your Proud Principal, Mr. Garrett, with a couple of announcements for the week of November 25th, 2024.

This week students will be out of school for the Thanksgiving break from Wednesday, November 27th to Friday, November 29th. Students will return to school on Monday, December 2nd.

Parents of car riders, we have been working very hard on a new system to help make our afternoon dismissal more efficient. We will transition to dismissing from our classrooms in the afternoons, eliminating an additional transition to help make the process more effective for car riders and bus riders. We will provide a QR tag for each of our almost 300 car riders and we’ll ask you to simply present that tag on your way through the line in the afternoon. When the QR code is scanned, it populates a spreadsheet that is shared on the screen in each classroom, signaling to our students that their ride is present and they can be dismissed. We’ll also signal for bus riders using this same system. When those buses are on campus and ready to load, student’s will see their bus number and route populate in the spreadsheet. The visual dismissal will take away the need for relying on radio communications and intercoms, stop the most common excuse of “I didn’t hear my bus called” or “it was too loud in my classroom.” We hope to have the tags ready to distribute this week and start implementing the new system upon our return from Thanksgiving Break. Meanwhile, we appreciate your patience as we make efforts to ensure that all students arrive home in a safe manner.

Looking ahead, we have a Title I Curriculum Night coming up on December 17th, 2024 at 6:00 pm. More information will be shared at a later date, but please mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 17th for our upcoming Title I Curriculum Night.

Our Winter Sports will kick off their seasons on December 11th with Boys and Girls Basketball traveling to Western Middle while Wrestling is at Home vs. Western. On December 12, Boys and Girls Basketball will host Broadview Middle, while wrestling travels to Broadview. Girls Basketball and Wrestling begin at 4:45 pm, while the Boys game follows the conclusion of the girl's game.

Well, that’s all for now. This is Mr. Garrett, signing off from the home of the Eagles, where I always say “We’re having fun, but we ain’t playing.”
