In 2010, Congress passed House Resolution 275 designating the week beginning with the second Sunday in September as National Arts in Education Week. During this week, the field of arts education joins together in communities across the country to advocate, educate and celebrate the impact and transformative power of the arts in education. In celebration of Arts in Education Week, Sept. 11-17, one of our own Western Middle 6th grade beginner bands recorded the first song they have learned, Hot Cross Buns, after learning how to play instruments in class for just a little over a week. Today the Western Middle bands visited with Mr. Dan Kelley, who assists the band in instrument maintenance and repair. He shared with students the proper methods to keep instruments clean and in top shape.Thank you Mr. Kelley!

Clear your calendars for a fun night of food and science! The Elon Explorers invite middle schoolers and their families to join them the first Tuesday of every month at Alamance Community College from 6-7:30pm.
Cross Country Tryouts begin on August 30 from 3:30-5:00pm. Meet in Coach K's room after school.
Softball Tryouts begin on Tuesday, August 30 from 4:00-6:00. All athletes meet in the gym at 3:45.
