WAMS Weekly Update - 4/27/25

Good afternoon Western Alamance Middle School families, this is Principal Aaron Acome

I hope everyone was able to enjoy the beautiful Spring weather this weekend.  

NC Check Ins:

Nc Check-Ins will begin this Wednesday, April 30th WAMS will administer the  Math NC Check-In to all 6th - 8th grade students. Thursday. May 1st  WAMS will administer the Reading NC Check-In to all 6th-8th Graders. Friday May 2nd  WAMS will administer 8th grade Science Check-In to all 8th grade students. Check-Ins are interim assessments aligned to North Carolina grade-level content standards developed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). The main purpose of NC Check-Ins is to provide students, teachers, and parents with immediate data and a reliable estimate of students’ current performance on the selected content standards. It is extremely important that your student arrives at school on time with a fully charged computer Wednesday and Thursday to ensure that our test administration is not interrupted.

PTO: Please be on the lookout for the newsletter and fun day permission slips with all of the end of the year information on them. We will start collecting money on Monday for the fun days and the 8th grade formal. Please email westernalamancepto@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Thursday May 29th, 8th Grade Science EOG

2025-2026 Transportation Needs (ACTION REQUIRED): You must submit the Transportation Needs form in your PowerSchool Parent Portal account no later than May 2nd.

  2. Click Forms

  3. Click “Transportation Needs”

  4. Review and Update information as needed

  5. Submit

News about the Arts at Western Middle: The exhibition of winning pieces opens to the public on April 1st and runs through Friday, May 23rd. The galleries of Alamance Arts are open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am-5pm. A reception and award ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 10th at 5pm to 8pm. Awards for middle school will be presented at 6pm and awards for high school will be presented at 7pm.  I hope to see many teachers, students, and families here to celebrate the talent being showcased.
