WAMS Weekly Update - 3/30/25

March 30, 2025

Good afternoon Western Alamance Middle School families, this is Principal Aaron Acome.

As we begin the 4th quarter and move closer to the end of the school year, there is much to look forward to with a variety of events and activities ahead. However, it is important to remember that our focus must remain on maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations as students and teachers prepare for the EOG assessments. Let’s stay committed to providing a strong finish to the year, ensuring our students are supported and ready for success.

Spring Picture Day: Spring Picture Day is coming up on April 8, 2025, at Western Alamance Middle School! If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school office.

News about the Arts at Western Middle: Mrs. Dana Wheeler, has been working with Jessica Singleton of the Burlington Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to collect donated art supplies for our school.

Mrs. Wheeler and her students will be celebrating the dropoff of all these wonderful donations on Friday, April 4th from 5-6pm here at Western Middle in the Media Center with student artworks on display and light hors d'oeuvres. We welcome parents, Board Members, staff, students, and the community to come out and join us.

PTO: Thanks to everyone who contacted the PTO about campus beautification. We have a landscaper that will rework the sign area, an Eagle Scout that will repaint the WA in front of the school and pressure wash the sidewalk. Several people have donated their time and talents to rework the flower beds. We are grateful for such a caring community.

8th grade parents only—we will be doing a slideshow of baby pictures at the formal. If you would like to have your child’s picture included, please email dana_sherwood@abss.k12.nc.us

We are looking for a business to partner with us to help out during our duty free lunches and student fun days etc. please contact western alamancepto@gmail.com if your business is able to help us out and I will send your business the details.

Special thanks to the parents that donated their time and culinary skills to host a duty free lunch for our teachers this week. It was delicious!

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day.  We are asking all that are willing to participate, to wear an autism awareness t-shirt, a blue shirt or tie dye shirts with “crazy socks”.
