Good Evening Brave Families,
This is Principal, Aaron Acome, with the weekly updates for Western Alamance Middle School.
I want to take a moment to share my gratitude and excitement following my first official week as your principal. From the warm welcomes to the vibrant energy throughout the halls, it is clear that Western Alamance Middle School is a special place filled with incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive families.
This week, I had the opportunity to meet many of you, and I was truly impressed by the sense of pride and commitment that you bring to our school. As we move forward together, my goal is to build on this foundation, fostering an environment where every student feels valued, engaged, and empowered to reach their full potential.
I look forward to working alongside each of you as we continue to make Western Alamance Middle School a place of learning, growth, and success for all.
Thank you again for such a warm welcome. I’m proud to be part of the Western family, and I’m excited about the journey ahead.
PowerSchool Parent Portal
In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Please let us know if we can help you.
Photos & Forms
This year it is important for all families to update their student's information in PowerSchool by completing the Back to School Forms. One of the things that must be done is opting in or out for photos. Opting in means a student’s photo can be taken and used. This includes being in the yearbook.
Free and Reduced Lunch Application
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. Paper forms are available in the SEHS main office or you can fill it out online. Please make sure that you have been approved for free or reduced lunch or that your child has lunch money in their account.
Canvas Observer
Parents can sign up as an observer in Canvas. Observers can link their Canvas account to their student's account so they can see assignment due dates, announcements, and other course content. Observers can view the course content but cannot participate in the course.

Chromebook Insurance
This year, we are offering families the opportunity to purchase optional insurance for $25 for their student(s) chromebook. This premium is good for one instance of unintentional breakage. It is highly recommended that you purchase the insurance. For more details, including a list of part replacement costs, click here for the Mobile Learning Handbook. You may use this link to purchase the optional insurance.
7th grade parent reminder
The state of North Carolina requires all 7th grade students to have 2 vaccines by the 30th day of their 7th grade year, which is September 24th. If not received by then, the student will be suspended until proof of vaccinations have been sent to the school nurse. Also, any new to NC school students will have until September 24th to turn in their immunization records and NC health assessment forms. We have a vaccine clinic on September 19 at Western Alamance High School. Please see the attached flier.
