Weekly Update October 24th

Smith Elementary School Weekly Update

Week of October 24th

This week is our school’s spirit week!

  • On Marvelous Monday students can dress up as their favorite Marvel character.

  • On Tuesday it is Fall Flannel Day.  Students dress in flannel!

  • On Wednesday students wear all black for Black Out Wednesday.

  • On Thursday students can wear a halloween shirt to school.

  • On Friday it is School Costume Day and students can wear their halloween costume to school today.  Please remember this is optional and if your child chooses to participate he/she must adhere to the following rules:

Headpieces are allowed.  (Tiaras, ears, feathers, wigs, etc.)

Hair paint is allowed but must be washed out before the next school day.

Masks are NOT allowed per state statute.

NO horror/gruesome costumes or makeup

NO pretend weapons! (Knives, pirate swords, guns, etc.)

Monday is our make up day for Fall Pictures.  If your child missed picture day or needs a retake, please be sure to send them to school wearing their best smile!  If your child needs a retake, please make sure you notify your child’s teacher so they will know to send he/she to the photographer.

Looking ahead, October 31st is a workday and there is no school for students.  Teachers will be holding parent/teacher conferences.  Please make sure you have scheduled a time to meet with your child’s teacher.  You will not want to miss this opportunity.

Please help us manage lunch debt!  Our lunch debt continues to accrue.  If you receive a notice, phone call, or reminder email/text indicating your child owes a debt, please pay it as soon as possible.  We are spending lots of energy making calls, writing notices, with little to no results.  Breakfast and lunch are no longer free and require money daily to be able to receive a meal.  If you would benefit from assistance, we have lunch applications available in our office and  you can apply online.
