As a global school, each grade level is assigned a geographical region of the world as its focus. Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to investigate the unique culture this region offers while also comparing it to America. As students progress through each grade level, they will better understand the world around them and how they can contribute to making a difference and becoming a globally aware citizen.
Below you can see some of the ways that we incorporate global into our school.

Each year we have a global parade that showcases teachers and students in our school from all around the world. Teachers and students wear cultural attire that represents the country they are from and we parade through the halls. This is a fun tradition that exposes all students to the diversity in our building.
Throughout our school you will see displays representing different continents on different hallways showcasing student work. Teachers are weaving their continent of study into the academic instruction in their classroom. Check out the examples below.

PTO also provides a variety of global performances for our students and staff throughout the school year. This past year we got to see an African Drumming group.

We are committed to providing a global education to every student at Smith. Students are exposed to many different cultures by studying different continents with their classroom teacher but they also learn about these cultures and continents in music, art, media and PE. Our hope is that when they leave us they are prepared to succeed in a global society and engage in the global world around them as globally aware citizens.
