Smith Elementary Weekly Update

Week of March 20th

This week is Student Appreciation Week at Smith.  We will be showing our students our love and appreciation through some fun activities, and to let them know how proud we are of the growth and progress they are showing so far this year.  We are Seabee proud!

Also this week, our third graders will be traveling to Williams High School Tuesday morning to see the Greensboro Symphony.  On Thursday our PreK has a field trip to the Greensboro Children’s Museum.  With colder temperatures this week, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for their field trip.

Wednesday is our PTO Dine Out Night at Petro’s Chili and Chips from 11 am to 8 pm.  Our PTO and school will receive 30% of the sales.  Come out and support our school!

This Friday we will celebrate March Madness!  Students and staff can show their support for their favorite team by wearing their favorite basketball team shirt or jersey.

Mark your calendars now for our Family BINGO Night on Friday, May 5th!  Our PTO is busy preparing for this event and working hard to make sure it is a fun night for families and fundraising.  We need your help!  If you or someone you know owns a small business, please consider partnering with us for this amazing fundraiser!  Fill out this form, and our BINGO committee will contact you with more information.  If you'd like to volunteer to help with Bingo, please contact Margaret Arnett at Arnett.g.margaret@gmail.com. Thank you!

Also, Global Awareness Week is coming up the week of March 27th.  Our PTO and Global Committee have been busy making this a fun week of learning!  For our students there will be an interactive map, a global parade, and a Bollywood dance performance. We are also hosting an evening event for all families! Please join us for our first Multicultural Night on Wednesday, March 29 at 6pm. You can take a tour around the world, learning about different cultures. Students from 1st and 3rd grades will give musical performances too.  To help us prepare for this week, a paper sign-up sheet was sent home with your child, so please send that back, OR fill out this form!
