Smith Elementary Weekly Update
Week of March 13th
This Monday evening at 5:30 pm we invite any parent of a student in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade to an information session on Standards Based Grading. For the last few years our school has been working toward the process of no longer using letter grades on report cards. Instead, a student’s proficiency would be determined through the use of a rubric indicating levels of achievement in reference to academic standards. While we will not make this change for this school year, we will begin grading math in this manner for the 2023-2024 school year. Please mark your calendar and come learn about this new process and what it means for your child! We are excited to share it with you!
Wednesday our PTO is providing duty Free Lunch to our teachers and providing items for a salad bar. If you can help provide coverage or assist in any way, please reach out to marvinbsmithpto@gmail.com
Thursday evening our fifth grade orchestra students will perform at Turrentine Middle School at 7 pm. Please mark your calendar and come out and support our orchestra students!
A special thanks to everyone who had your student reading and raising money for our school! It was a big success!
