Reminder: Thursday 1/26 and Friday 1/27 are teacher workdays; there is no school for students. We will see all of our students back on campus on Monday, January 30th.

A reminder that there is no school on Monday, January 16th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. We will see all students back on Tuesday, January 17th.

Good Evening! In order to enhance our time in the media center, we will begin using a new schedule for checking out books. Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will check out books during their regularly scheduled library class times on Week A dates. Third through 5th grade students will check out during regularly scheduled library class times on Week B dates. All students in grades K-5 are invited to switch their library books any morning from 7:20-7:50 during Open Circulation times. Reminder that Thursday 12/15 is Polar Express day!

Code can be found almost everywhere we look. Smart devices, stop lights, microwaves, and other technology we rely on requires code to run properly. Think of code as the language of a computer! As part of a collaboration between the Music and Media Specialists, students at Highland Elementary learned about coding through a series of activities during the Hour of Code event. They selected a task and placed "blocks" of code in order to accomplish it. Some tasks require math skills, some connect to science, others music and art, but all require problem-solving and creativity to complete. Congratulations to our 5th grade students for completing their DARE program. Students were recognized today during the ceremony. Thanks to Officer Gonzalez for his help in teaching the DARE curriculum to our students.

Hello Highland Families! Please join us for Highland's Holiday Lights Around the World. This year we will be hosting this floating event from 4:30-6:30pm on Thursday, December 15th. During this time we will be showcasing student work, enjoying a performance by the Highland High Notes Chorus, and will listen to holiday stories told by some very special guests.
