Wildcat Weekly Update Week of September 12th

As we jump into the third week of school, we want to  encourage all of our students kindergarten through fifth grade to practice walking in on their own.  Kindergarten parents may drop students off at the Kiss and Go area in front of the pit entrance.   We will have staff there to help guide them to their classrooms.

Students not enrolled in the before school program can be dropped off after 7:20.  If you are dropping off your child in the morning between 7:20-7:30 please be sure to drop them off at the pit entrance.  Staff will begin unloading car riders beginning at 7:30.  Please be sure your child is ready and prepared to unload in the morning.  All students should unload from the passenger side.

We dismiss at 2:35 in the afternoon.  If you need to change your child’s transportation information for the day, please be sure to complete the transportation change form on the school website prior to 2pm.  If you are picking up your child in the car rider line, please make sure you have your car rider tag displayed.  If you need a car rider tag please call the front office.

Our annual book fair is taking place this week! Monday will be a preview day where each class will get to walk through and see what's available.  Purchases can be made starting Tuesday. Students will come to the fair during their regularly scheduled media specials time.  Mrs. Kutzer sent home book fair flyers last week with all the pertinent information.  The biggest change is that sales tax will be charged by Scholastic.

You are also invited to attend the book fair with your students during their shopping times. Please make sure to check in at the front office prior to going to the book fair.  We will be open from 8am - 3pm Tuesday through Friday.  We will have extended shopping hours on Wednesday until 6pm.

All proceeds from the sales will go to enhancing our library and media program at Holt.

If you'd like to donate to help make sure every child at E.M. Holt gets a book, please send it to Mrs. Kutzer in an envelope labeled "ALL FOR BOOKS". We can also round up purchases to the nearest dollar upon your request.

Thanks so much for your support for Book Fair and our Media Center!! We look forward to seeing you there!

There will be a PTO meeting on Tuesday, September 13th from 6-7pm.  We encourage you to join the PTO if you are not already a member.

We will be celebrating International Dot Day this Thursday, Sept. 15th in honor of Peter Reynolds' infamous story, The Dot.  All staff and students are encouraged to deck out in LOTS of DOTS that day!!  Since 2011, over 25 million people in over 190 different countries and sovereign territories have celebrated the themes of bravery, creativity, and self-expression displayed in this book on DOT DAY!

Looking ahead to the next few weeks:

September 19th is an early release day and students will be dismissed at 11:30.

September 27th is fall picture day.
