E.M. Holt Car Rider Line and Parking Information

Welcome Back to School Wildcats!  It is hard to believe but we are almost ready to begin a new school year!  Many of you have been watching the car rider traffic project over the summer and we are pleased to announce that we will open our car rider line beginning on Monday, August 26th.  Check out the video overview so you know how this will operate.

Arrival and Dismissal

It is especially important as you pull in from Highway 62 that you are extra careful.  We will have traffic coming in from the left and the right so please be cautious as you pull in.  There are double lanes as you enter and the double lanes continue up to the gazebo area. Please drive slowly in the curves and stay in your lane.  Traffic that enters prior to 7:20 will be asked to remain in the right lane to allow before school traffic through on the left lane.  Beginning at 7:20 the traffic pattern will be double lanes.  In the afternoons, traffic that enters prior to 2:00 will be asked to remain in the right lane to allow through traffic on the left.  Beginning at 2pm it will be double lanes.  Prior to dismissal we do ask you to stop behind the cones.  It is important that you stop and wait patiently.  At about 2:25 or 2:30, a staff member will come out and remove the cones to usher both lanes to pull forward toward the horizontal white stripe on the pavement by the gazebo area.  All traffic will be asked to stop at this point and wait to be directed by a staff member.  It is important that you stop and wait patiently.  At about 2:35, we will direct a group of six cars from one lane into the loading zones 1-6.   Please go slow and use caution as you enter and exit the loading zone.  Our staff will approach the vehicle and load or unload your child.  Once all six students are safely loaded or unloaded you will be ushered to pull forward and exit our car line through the parking lot in a single lane.  If for some reason your student does not come out promptly or if you need to buckle your child in, you will pull past cone one and park at the crosswalk. Please be sure to follow the arrows and staff directions through the parking lot  After you turn by the playground it will become two lanes again for traffic to exit on the left and right.

Parking and Walking In On The First Day

If you are planning to drive in and park to walk your child into the building on the first day of school you will need to plan to go through the car rider line to access the parking lot.  Our parking lot now has traffic going through it so be mindful of that and hold onto your child’s hand as you walk with them. It is not safe to allow them to walk by themselves through the traffic.  Please be sure to use the crosswalk if you are walking through the parking lot traffic with your child.
