🌟First-grade students did a project on Fact families and communities. They learned how to use fact families to help add and subtract fluently. Students wrote the facts inside of their “family houses” and then used their knowledge of communities to draw roads, buildings, parks, and people that would be found in communities! This was such a fun way of learning Math. The students from Mrs. Mathena's class show their creative "family communities"😀🥇. #MakingLearningFun #PhoenixTakeFlight

📚 Elon Elementary welcomed many special guest readers today! Students were delighted to have Elon University athletes, ABSS Deputy Superintendent Lowell Rogers, Board Member Donna Westbrooks, and other community members visit their classes, read a picture book, and talk about their professions. Reading opens doors to new worlds and brings people together. We're grateful to everyone who took the time to visit and read with our Elon students today!

Elon Elementary 4th graders are leading the way with the school's commitment to bring awareness to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. On Friday, they kicked off their focus on Goal 12, Responsible Consumption and Production with a play presented by The National Theatre for Children in partnership with Duke Energy. The play is a live and interactive in-school program for students that teaches core educational points about energy, resources, and how and why students can use energy wisely. Every student received a workbook of project-based assignments, including take-home work designed to engage parents.

Do you recognize these landmarks? 🏖️🗼 After studying seven lighthouses along North Carolina's coast, the talented 4th graders at Elon Elementary, guided by Instructional Assistant Cindy House, went all out with their research, picked their favorite lighthouse, and brought it to life through their creative models. Each one was unique and impressive! 🌟 The students even presented their projects to the class, giving insightful talks about their chosen lighthouses. Excellent work! #StudentCenteredFutureFocused
