Good evening,
This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates. It is hard to believe that we are only 5 days away from Winter Break! Congratulations to our dancers on a fantastic Winter Concert!
New Safety Features: Starting Monday, December 16th to get into the main office, guests will have to be buzzed in. In addition all of the large gray doors in the wall that surrounds campus will be locked. After 8:55, any student entering through the doors at the bus lot, junior lot, and senior lot will need to be buzzed in as well. Please understand that it may take a few days to get used to the new system.
Attendance Matters: We all know that high attendance leads to high achievement so please continue to get to school on time every day. Congratulations to the Senior class for continuing to lead the way with the highest attendance rate!
Freshman: 89.6%
Sophomores:90.0%
Juniors: 88.8%
Seniors: 91.1%
Overall: 89.8%
Fall Exam Schedule: We are just 10 school days away from Fall exams. Fall Exam week is January 13-17, 2025. EOC, CTE, and teacher made exams will all occur throughout this week. Grades: Take a moment this week to review your grades in PowerSchool. Make a plan to talk to your teachers about any missing assignments you may have. As a reminder this 9 weeks counts as 40% of your final grade.
EAgle Time: We will have our last EAgle Time for the semester on Thursday, December 19th. There will be no EAgle time on Friday or the week before exams.

The FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid is now open for the 2025-26 school year! How to access the application:
Go to StudentAid.gov.
Choose - Create an account - This will result in an FSA ID which you will use each year to complete the form
The student completes their portion of the form. Just follow along and answer each question.
The student will enter their parent/guardian email.
The parent/guardian will open the email, create their own account (FSA ID) and complete their portion of the form.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The FAFSA will pull tax information from 2023 using an IRS data retrieval tool based on student and parent social security numbers. If the parent does not file taxes, or the 2023 information is not available from the IRS, it will need to be entered manually.
REMEMBER: You MUST complete the FAFSA to receive any financial aid, including The Next NC Scholarship, which covers tuition at any community college and most public NC Universities for the majority of students.
Freshman Parents: It is important that you log into PowerSchool and complete the “Reproductive Health Consent or Withhold Consent For Student Participation” form. As of today we only have 100 9th graders with this form complete.
Apprentice Alamance Application: Juniors and Seniors- The application found here is now live for Apprentice Alamance! Reach out to Mrs. Kirby if you need any help filling it out.
Senior Information: It is never too early to purchase your cap and gown. Use this link to go ahead and secure your cap and gown for the lowest price of the year. If you missed the Senior Parent Informational Night, click here to review the presentation. As the year progresses, we will add important information here on the school website.
Bus Lot: The bus lot should only be used by our buses. It is not a place to pick up or drop off students.
Student Parking: Any student parking on campus should have a 24-25 parking permit. Here is the link to purchase a parking pass. Students who park on campus without a pass are subject to having their car towed at the owner’s expense. As a reminder, students may not go to the parking lots during the school day without permission from an administrator. Student parking is a matter of privilege, not a right; failure to comply with parking policies may result in revocation of parking privileges.
Chromebook Insurance: This year, we are offering families the opportunity to purchase optional insurance for $25 for their student(s) chromebook. This premium is good for one instance of unintentional breakage. It is highly recommended that you purchase the insurance. For more details, including a list of part replacement costs, click here for the Mobile Learning Handbook. You may use this link to purchase the optional insurance.
Student Name Update: Does your child have a name that they go by that is different from what is listed in PowerSchool? For example: student's name is Samantha but they go by Sami or student's name is John but they go by Jack. If so, you must complete this form. Until this form is complete and has been approved, all staff at school are required to call them by the name listed in PowerSchool.
PowerSchool Parent Portal: In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Please let us know if we can help you.
Canvas Observer: Parents can sign up as an observer in Canvas. Observers can link their Canvas account to their student's account so they can see assignment due dates, announcements, and other course content. Observers can view the course content but cannot participate in the course.
