Good afternoon Eagle Families,
This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates. I hope that you have enjoyed your long weekend. We had a great time this week with the start of senior celebrations! We will continue those celebrations with Senior Awards night on Wednesday evening at 6:00.
Teacher made exams are Thursday and Friday of this week. As a reminder students can be exempt from teacher made exams if they meet the requirements in our Exam Exemption Policy. The following week we will begin EOC/CTE testing. This is the spring exam schedule. If students have any questions about the exam schedule or need to reschedule an exam they will need to speak with their teacher.
Seniors
All school related items (books, devices, etc.) must be returned and any outstanding fine/fees paid before you can pick up graduation tickets. Seniors with no exams may begin turning in chromebooks and chargers to the EAHS library on Thursday, May 30th any time between 8:30am and 3:45pm. They can also turn in their devices any school day after that through Wednesday, June 5th.
Underclassmen Leaving Eastern
Please return your chromebook and charger to the library as soon as you are finished with all exams including EOCs.
Underclassmen returning to Eastern Next School Year
Current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders returning to Eastern next school year will not need to turn in their chromebooks and chargers. You are expected to return with your ABSS chromebook and charger next school year. ABSS will not give you an additional device.
Make plans to join us this Sunday afternoon at 2:00 to celebrate the career of Coach John Kirby. The celebration will begin in the auditorium followed with light refreshments and a time to share stories, take pictures and shake hands with Coach Kirby.
This will be the final week of Saturday School and Evening Academy. Please reach out to Mr. Hemminger at william_hemminger@abss.k12.nc.us in regards to Saturday school and Coach Walker at parrish_walker@abss.k12.nc.us for Evening Academy.
Our school currently has a negative lunch balance of $7100. At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance. Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school. Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/ You can add money to your student’s lunch account online, by clicking this link. Students who have large outstanding lunch balances may not be able to participate in extracurricular activities.

Seniors, we have a page on our website just for you! Check it out for the latest updates on all you need to know to navigate your senior year. Graduation will be June 8th, at 4:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.
In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.
