Good evening Eagle Families,
This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates. Even though we lost an hour this weekend, I hope you are as excited as I am about the sun setting later. Our overall attendance rate this week is up to 91.1%. Seniors have led the way this 9 weeks and are still holding steady with a 93.3% attendance rate.
Congratulations to Ms. Jackowski and our dance team for an outstanding performance at Nationals!
We want to wish our symphonic band and Mr. Crotts good luck this week as they participate in the NC Central District’s Music Performance Adjudication (MPA) on Thursday. MPA requires rigorous preparation and is the equivalent of an EOC for band.
There are 3 weeks until the end of this 9 weeks. Please take a minute to check your child’s grades online. The third quarter grading period will count 40% of your child’s final grade in the course. If you have any questions then please contact your child’s teacher.
Starting tomorrow, we will begin to pilot a new car rider traffic pattern. This is designed to move as much traffic off of Mebane Rogers Road as possible. Please bear with us as we adapt to this change. The DOT wants to collect data to see if this works before implementing a more permanent solution. All Car Rider traffic will now enter/exit from the student parking lot entrance. All students should be dropped off and picked up near the gym. Please see this map for a better understanding of the new Car Rider traffic pattern. Students should no longer be dropped off after 8:00 am or picked up after 3:30 pm from the front circle. As you are dropping off/picking up your student, please remember there are 16, 17, and 18 year old student drivers who are navigating parking as well.
We have begun Saturday school and Evening Academy for this semester. For more information on Saturday school, please reach out to Mr. Hemminger at william_hemminger@abss.k12.nc.us. For more information on Evening Academy, please reach out to Coach Walker at parrish_walker@abss.k12.nc.us.
Our school currently has a negative lunch balance of $6700. At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance. Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school. Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/ You can add money to your student’s lunch account online, by clicking this link. Students who have large outstanding lunch balances may not be able to participate in extracurricular activities.
The outdoor picnic/patio area will remain closed this week. All students are expected to remain inside the cafeteria during their scheduled lunch.
As a reminder, Ms. Cushman and Ms. Johnson will be coming to all ELA and SS classes to ensure that students are registered for classes next year. If you do not have a SS or ELA class this semester they will be reaching out to schedule a meeting with you.
If you are interested, please fill out this form to receive emails in regards to second semester, summer, and 2024-2025 drivers ed courses.
