Good evening Eagle Families,
This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates. This week is National School Counseling Week. We are fortunate to have two amazing counselors who serve our school. Please take a moment this week to thank Ms. Cushman and Ms. Johnson for all that they do. We appreciate them!
Students make sure that you are signed up for EAgle time this week.
We had 368 unexcused tardies this week. Over 70% of those tardies are for first period. Students must be in class by 8:45 each day. Our overall attendance rate is 91.4% with seniors still leading the way at 93%. Way to go seniors!
We invite you to join us this Thursday night from 4:30-6:30 (floating) in our gym for our annual Registration Fair. This is a great opportunity to learn all about what Eastern and ABSS has to offer students.
The student registration portal in PowerSchool will be open from February 5th-February 11th for all rising 9th-12th grade students. During the months of February and March, the counselors will be meeting with all students to ensure that they are properly registered for the upcoming school year. Here are the instructions for students to access the course registration in Powerschool. To learn more about the registration process and opportunities for your child in the Alamance-Burlington School System please visit the High School Information page.
Any 10th-12th grader interested in being a Senate Page between April 29 - June 27, 2024 should click here for more information.
We will be administering the ASVAB test on Friday, February 29th to any 10th-12th grader who is interested. This is a great test for those planning to go into the military or who aren’t sure what they would like to do. Please use this link to sign up.
Seniors, The Better FAFSA has opened and we want students to have help if they need it. Eastern will host Financial Aid Night on Monday, February 12th, 2024 from 6:00PM-7:00PM in the media center.
Juniors, this Wednesday from 4:30-6:00, Herff Jones will be in the front lobby to assist you with ordering your class rings and/or letter jackets.
If you are interested, please fill out this form to receive emails in regards to second semester, summer, and 2024-2025 drivers ed courses.
Make sure you stay up to date with our daily announcements by listening to them during EAgle time. If you miss a day, you can always catch up on our channel here.
Seniors, we have a page on our website just for you! Check it out for the latest updates on all you need to know to navigate your senior year. Graduation will be June 8th, at 4:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.
In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up. If you have any questions please reach out to us.
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you either need to put money on their online account or secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. Our school currently has a negative lunch balance of $6500. At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance. Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school. Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/
You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
