Good evening Eagle Families,

This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates.  Tomorrow and Tuesday are teacher workdays.  We will begin the second semester on Wednesday.  On Wednesday morning students will report to homeroom at 8:45.

Mark your calendars for our annual Registration Fair to be held from 4:30-6:30 on Thursday, February 8th.  This will be a great opportunity for parents and students to come out and learn about all of the course options available at Eastern and throughout ABSS.  Representatives from all departments at Eastern, CTEC, ACC, and others will be here so that you can learn about all the options available.

ABSS is excited to invite you to their upcoming Family University event that will be held on January 29th from 5:30 - 7:30 at Cummings High School.  There will be lots of great sessions for you to learn more about opportunities for you and your child in our school district.  Childcare will be provided for students Pre-K through 5th grade and a light dinner will be provided.

A big congratulations to the 21 students who earned a spot in the All-County band!  In addition, congratulations to Addison Carter, Tristan Garrett, Mary Long, Ryan McAdoo, Noah Vonglakhone-Heflin, and Joseph Wetter for earning a spot in the CDBA All-District Band.  Mary and Noah are also eligible for the All-State band.  We are very proud of you!

This weekend our wrestling team participated in the Conference Meet at Williams High School.  Elijah Watson and Chasen Phillips placed first in their respective weight classes.  While Mason Tanner placed second and Carson Gardner and Chris Solomon placed 4th.  Way to go!

Students, there are many of you who have not turned in your technology user agreement.  These forms are available in the media center. Please get this taken care of ASAP.

Make sure you stay up to date with our daily announcements by listening to them during EAgle time.  If you miss a day, you can always catch up on our channel here.

Seniors, we have a page on our website just for you!  Check it out for the latest updates on all you need to know to navigate your senior year.  Graduation will be June 8th, at 4:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students.  If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you either need to put money on their online account or secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form.  Our school currently has a negative lunch balance of $6000.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/

You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
