Good afternoon Eagle Families,

This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates.

Last week our teacher-made exams and first day of state EOC exams went well.  Please make sure that you are on time for your exams this week.  On Tuesday, we will administer state CTE exams.  In addition, on Tuesday there is a required Math 3 review session that will take place in C building from 8:45-12:45.  It is important for your student to attend if they are in Math 3 to ensure they are ready for their state exam the following day.  If you were absent from testing on Friday, you have received an email with your scheduled make-up time from Coach Costa.  As a reminder, exams count for 20% of the final grade.  Students that do not take an exam will receive a 0.

Where Am I Testing? Fall ‘23

Fall Exam Schedule

Students that are not scheduled for a state required exam on January 16th, January 17th, January 18th, or January 19th are not required to attend school on those days.

Mark your calendars for our annual Registration Fair to be held from 4:30-6:30 on Thursday, February 8th.  This will be a great opportunity for parents and students to come out and learn about all of the course options available at Eastern and throughout ABSS.  Representatives from all departments at Eastern, CTEC, ACC, and others will be here so that you can learn about all the options available.

ABSS is excited to invite you to their upcoming Family University event that will be held on January 29th from 5:30 - 7:30 at Cummings High School.  There will be lots of great sessions for you to learn more about opportunities for you and your child in our school district.  Childcare will be provided for students Pre-K through 5th grade and a light dinner will be provided.

We have lots happening on our athletic calendar this week.  Including senior night for our swimmers on Friday.

Students, there are many of you who have not turned in your technology user agreement.  These forms are available in the media center. Please get this taken care of ASAP.

Make sure you stay up to date with our daily announcements by listening to them during EAgle time.  If you miss a day, you can always catch up on our channel here.

Seniors, we have a page on our website just for you!  Check it out for the latest updates on all you need to know to navigate your senior year.  Graduation will be June 8th, at 4:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students.  If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you either need to put money on their online account or secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form.  Our school currently has a negative lunch balance of $6000.  At the end of the year, our school will have to pay the negative balance.  Paying this money takes away important resources from other things that we may need at the school.  Please help us to pay down our negative balance by putting money in your child’s account or by applying for free or reduced meals.   The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/

You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
