This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with your weekly updates.  I hope that you had an awesome weekend.  Congratulations to Mr. Crotts and our band for a fantastic winter concert!  A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Jackowski and all of the students and staff who were involved in the Big Man On Campus Contest this afternoon.  Congratulations to EA’s sweetheart, Jalen Alston, Most Talented, Payton Wright, and the overall BMOC Michael Reaves!  A great time was had by all!  Finally a special shoutout to our wrestling team for once again putting on a fantastic 2 day tournament.

Please join us this week in our Winter Spirit Days, remember all days must be dress code appropriate.

There are only 10 days until the end of the first semester.  We will begin teacher-made exams on January 10th followed by EOC/CTE testing.  Please note that final exams will count as 20% of your child’s final grade in their course.  Please take a minute to review the Fall Exam Schedule.  If you have any questions then please let us know.

Take a minute to check your child’s grades online.  The second quarter grading period will count 40% of your child’s final grade in the course.

As a reminder, in the mornings before school you should be in one of 3 places.  The media center, the gym or the cafeteria.  You should not be wandering around campus.  The media center and gym open daily at 8:15.  The cafeteria opens earlier to accommodate our bus riders who arrive on campus early.

Evening Academy is going strong.  It is not too late for you to join us!  It is held every Tuesday through Thursday from 4:15-6:30.  This is a great opportunity for you to catch up on missing work, get tutoring in a core subject or recover credits from previous courses online.  You must provide your own transportation.  To register please contact Coach Walker at parrish_walker@abss.k12.nc.us.

Students, please make sure that you sign up for EAgle time this week.

Students, there are many of you who have not turned in your technology user agreement.  These forms are available in the media center. Please get this taken care of ASAP.

Make sure you stay up to date with our daily announcements by listening to them during EAgle time.  If you miss a day, you can always catch up on our channel here.

Seniors, we have a page on our website just for you!  Check it out for the latest updates on all you need to know to navigate your senior year.  Go ahead and order your cap and gown before the price goes up in December.  Graduation will be June 8th, at 4:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.

Yearbooks are now on sale for their lowest price.  You can purchase one here.

In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features.  Finally, if you want to be a parent observer in your child’s Canvas courses then click here for instructions to set that up.  If you have any questions please reach out to us.

Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students.  If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/
