Good afternoon Eagle Families,
This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with some important updates and reminders.
Students, take a moment today to make sure that you are scheduled for Eagle Time.
On Thursday, October 19th, all 10th graders will take the Pre ACT. It is important for all 10th graders to be present on this day. Be on the lookout for more information from Mr. Hemminger.
Seniors, next week is college application week. This is a week when many colleges and universities throughout the state waive their application fee. Take advantage of this opportunity and apply to as many colleges as you want. As College Application Week approaches, it is crucial you complete the Residency Determination Application. This application is essential for determining your in-state tuition and financial aid eligibility. Please take a moment to complete the Residency Determination Application as soon as possible to ensure a smooth college application process.
Recently, the ABSS Board of Education voted to make changes to the school calendar. These changes will allow us to make up the required time that was missed because of the delayed start. Please see the link below for the updated calendar.
ABSS will be holding an ABSS University which will give parents opportunities to learn about everything the district has to offer. The event will take place on Monday, October 16th at Cummings High School. For more information check out this flyer (English) and (Spanish).
The NC Governor's School Information Session will be held in conjunction with the ABSS Family University. This session will be delivered during the SECOND session time slot (6:50-7:30). Please reach out to Mrs. Thea Johnson at thea_johnson@abss.k12.nc.us for more information about Governor’s School.
If you are a bus rider, please make sure that you are at your pick up locations 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
If you are a driver, please make sure that you are parking in your assigned spot and that your parking pass is on display each day.
Students, we have a nice covered outside area where you can elect to eat. Eating outside is a privilege. Please make sure that you are taking care of the space by cleaning up after yourself. If we continue to find a mess after each lunch, this area could end up being off limits.
Please make sure that you are adhering to our cell phone policy. Phones are allowed during lunch, class changes, and before/afterschool. Students should not be on their phones during class except with explicit teacher permission. If you are on your phone when you should not be and are asked to give it to your teacher and you fail to do so, it will result in a 2 day suspension.
In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Please let us know if we can help you.
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/
You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
