Good afternoon Eagle Families,
This is Principal Suzanne Simpson with some important updates and reminders. Students and families there are a couple of areas that we need your help with.
Please make sure that you are getting to school and class on time. Our school day begins at 8:45. We allow a 5 minute class change between each period. Students who arrive after that time are considered tardy and are missing valuable instruction. I have included the tardy policy below for quick reference. Thank you for helping us make the most out of our instructional day.
The Eastern Alamance High School Tardy Policy is as follows:
Students must be in the instructional area/classroom when the tardy bell rings.
Consequences
1st offense:
Warning with documentation
2nd offense:
Parent/guardian contact; documentation
3rd/4th offense Consequence at Teacher discretion (chosen from one of the following):
Parent Contact & Lunch Detention
Parent Contact & After School Detention (ASD)
Excessive Tardies (5 or more)
Will be referred to administration (possible ISS)
If you are a bus rider, please make sure that you are at your pick up locations 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
If you are a driver, please make sure that you are parking in your assigned spot and that your parking pass is on display each day.
Students, we have a nice covered outside area where you can elect to eat. Eating outside is a privilege. Please make sure that you are taking care of the space by cleaning up after yourself. If we continue to find a mess after each lunch, this area could end up being off limits.
Please make sure that you are adhering to our cell phone policy. Phones are allowed during lunch, class changes, and before/afterschool. Students should not be on their phones during class except with explicit teacher permission. If you are on your phone when you should not be and are asked to give it to your teacher and you fail to do so, it will result in a 2 day suspension.
Thank you for your help in each of these areas.
Homecoming kicks off today with the Powderpuff game and Homecoming King crowning at 3:00 pm. The festivities will continue throughout the week with daily spirit days (see below) and the Homecoming parade on Wednesday @ 7:00 in downtown Mebane. Friday we will hold a pep rally during 4th period. We will play Cedar Ridge that evening and crown our Homecoming Queen. We will end the week with our homecoming dance from 8-11 on Saturday October, 7th. You can purchase tickets online or from Mrs. Jackowski in the cafeteria.
Monday: Disney/Cartoon Day
Tuesday: Barbie/Ken Day
Wednesday: Dynamic Duo Day
Thursday: Dress As your type Day
Friday: Green and Gold Day
Congratulations to our band who traveled to their first competition this weekend. They walked away with 5 awards including 1st place in marching performance and 2nd overall in their class!
Congratulations to those students who were recognized at the school board meeting for their outstanding achievements in their AP classes last school year! We are proud of you.
Students, take a moment today to make sure that you are scheduled for Eagle Time.
The NC Governor's School Information Session will be held in conjunction with the ABSS Family University on October 16th. This session will be delivered during the SECOND session time slot (6:50-7:30). Please reach out to Mrs. Johnson at thea_johnson@abss.k12.nc.us for more information.
In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Please let us know if we can help you.
Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. The form is available in the office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/
You can add money to their lunch account online, by clicking the link below.
