Students stand on a low brick wall and throw homemade parachutes

Some of our science students were engineers for the day. They designed a parachute all on their own. The project goal was to build a parachute with the slowest descent. The concept they had to think about was increasing drag (fluid friction due to air resistance) to decrease descent time. Mrs. Burke-Scoll and Mrs Steere both do this lab during their forces unit. The students love it!
