The PTO is hosting a holiday luncheon for the faculty and staff at Garrett and are requesting a variety of desserts for the luncheon. The sign up sheet gives different ideas to send in. Please have all desserts here by 10:00 on December 14th for the luncheon.

Gator Families:
We are still in need of some volunteers for the annual Gingerbread Shop. Please look at your calendars and see if you can come in to help our students with this fun event any time between December 5th-December 9th.
Each class will visit the Gingerbread shop throughout the week. Volunteers will assist students with shopping within their budget, monitoring students while shopping and waiting to shop, helping check out the students, and re-stocking items for students to shop.

On Friday we were excited and honored to celebrate our 2023 Teacher of the Year Ms. Jessica Whitson and our 2023 Classified Employee of the Year, Ms. Teresa Snider. Both of these Gators are a huge part of our school and we are blessed to have them here. Ms. Whitson spreads positivity to not only her students where she is kind and nurturing, but also to her colleagues/friends that she supports in any way she can on a daily basis. Ms. Snider is always flexible and is the first to jump in to help in any way showing she is always going the extra mile. Both of these Gators do so much for our students each day. Thank you and congratulations to Ms. Whitson and Ms. Snider!

Don’t forget….It’s McTeacher's Night (tonight) Tuesday, November 15th, 2022
from 5 to 8 p.m.
We know it is cold and messy out so let Garrett “serve” you and your family dinner tonight at the McDonalds on Mebane-Oaks Road.
We invite all of our Gator families who love and support Garrett to head to McDonald's for dinner where 15% of the sales will go to the school.
Teachers will be working hard to raise this money under the Golden Arches. Who will be there….come out and see!!!

This is just a reminder that school will be closed for students and staff tomorrow, Friday, November 11th in observance of Veteran's Day. We would like to say thank you to all of our veterans for their service.

It is time for our 1st McTeacher night of the 2022-2023 school year. Our teachers and PTO will be “working” to serve you at McDonald's on Tuesday, November 15th between 5:00-8:00pm. Please plan to eat dinner with the staff of Garrett serving you your meals. We will have representatives working at the registers, in the dining room, and at both windows of the drive thru. We encourage you to come out and help support Garrett, as a portion of the proceeds goes to Garrett from the sales at the restaurant between 5:00-8:00 at the McDonald's on Mebane Oaks Road. We can’t wait to see everyone there!!
Gator Nation! This is just a reminder that tomorrow, November 11th, school is closed for students and staff in honor of Veterans Day. We will see you all again on Monday morning!
Gator Parents and Guardians-
Our PTO general meeting is Monday, November 14th beginning at 5:30. We encourage and invite everyone to attend if possible. The meeting will be held in the media center for those who plan to attend. There will also be a zoom link for those that cannot participate in person. Please plan to join the PTO Monday to learn more about all the exciting events that they have planned and additional ways to get involved. Our PTO hopes that you will attend either in person or on zoom on Monday, November 14th.
Our PTO is excited to bring back our annual Turkey Shoot Out. All students will participate in the annual Turkey shoot out basketball free throw competition either November 21st or 22nd during the school day. The boy and girl winner from each grade level will WIN a turkey!
Our PTO is still currently looking for Turkey donations for the winners. If you are interested in donating a Turkey (that feed 4) please contact the PTO at gatorspto@gmail.com as soon as possible. They are asking for all turkeys to be at school on November 17th.
We are excited to have all students participate in this fun Turkey tradition again this year with the help of you.

This is just a reminder that we have no school for students tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8th. This is a teacher workday for staff and the building will be closed for students. We will see everyone back on Wednesday.

Bus 51 will be using a sub bus and is leaving the lot. Please understand she will run her entire route, however, it will just be about 30 minutes later.
Bus 51 is having mechanical issues and hasn’t left the school yet. The mechanic is working and we will update you when the bus leaves the school.

Do you have old costumes that you have been meaning to get rid of??
PLEASE bring them to Garrett and drop them off in our Costume donation bucket in the front office. The costumes will help our new theater program and would be greatly appreciated. **Please make sure these are appropriate costumes for our children to use and wear.**
