Husky Families,

We’ve made it to the final week before Spring Break! As a reminder, Spring Break will take place from Saturday, April 12 through Monday, April 21. Students will return to school on Tuesday, April 22.

There will be no weekly update next week, as we hope everyone takes this time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. We appreciate all you do to support our students, and we look forward to finishing the year strong when we return!

Please take a moment to review the important updates below. As always, thank you for your support in making Hawfields a great place to work and learn!

7th & 8th Grade Elective Selection: It’s that time of year! Rising 7th and 8th grade students should now request their elective courses for the 2025–2026 school year. All elective selections must be completed by Friday, April 11th. Students will receive this information in their school email this week as well.

Students who do not submit their elective choices by the deadline will be placed in available electives. Please note: Schedule changes will not be made mid-semester or mid-year, so only select courses your student is truly interested in taking.

Please keep in mind:

  • Elective options are subject to change

  • Not all requested classes may be in your student’s final schedule

Rising 7th Grade Vaccine Requirements: All rising 7th grade students are required to have the Tdap booster and first dose of the meningococcal vaccine within the first 30 days of the 2025-2026 school year. Students who do not have these required vaccines on file by the 30th day of the 2025-2026 school year will be at risk of exclusion from school.

Please make sure your child is up to date and submit vaccine records to Nurse Becky in the front office as soon as possible.

HMS Chorus earns Top Honors at MPA: Congratulations to the Hawfields Choral Program, led by Mrs. Aria Westbrook, for earning Superior ratings in both Performance and Sight Singing at the NC Music Educators Association’s MPA event - the highest possible ratings! Our chorus was also named the top performing ensemble of the day, with an incredible average score of 96%. This achievement reflects the hard work of our students and Mrs. Westbrook’s outstanding leadership. Way to go, Husky Singers! HMS Shines at All County Chorus: This past Saturday, 16 talented Husky singers represented our school as vocal leaders at the ABSS Middle School All County Chorus. Students from across the district came together for a day-long honor choir event, working with an esteemed clinician and showcasing their talents in a culminating concert at Southeast Alamance High School. Hawfields had the largest percentage of singers represented from any middle school in the county.

Congratulations to our All County Singers - Torrance Berry, Rayne Lineberry, Miriam Khayran, Cheyenne Garner, Amir Kordab, Sofia Vazquez Bruno, Marisa Meyer, Brodie Cima, Lahriana Matos Pagan, Nevaeh James, Hellen Flores-Lopez, Gracelyn Grubb, Xina Benesch, Zoya Martin, MaKenzie Shaw, and Xaeviah Pinnix.
