Husky Families,
It is hard to believe that this week marks the halfway point of the first quarter! This is a great time to log into PowerSchool and review your student’s grades and progress. If you notice any missing assignments or areas for improvement, we encourage you to have a conversation with your student to ensure they are staying on track. Your involvement makes a big difference in their success in Middle School!
Hispanic Heritage Month: From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the culture, history, and contributions of the Hispanic community. This is a time to recognize the impact of the Hispanic community on our nation’s story and to celebrate the diversity that strengthens our school and broader community.
PowerSchool Parent Portal Account: In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Please let us know if we can help you. Please also take a moment to ensure that you have filled out your child's Back to School forms in PowerSchool.
How to find them:
Log in to PowerSchool Parent Portal
Click "Forms" in the menu.
Complete all listed Back to School forms
Pro tip: Don't forget to update the Medical forms too!
Access anywhere:
PowerSchool mobile app
Reproductive Health Consent Forms: Please log into PowerSchool to complete the Reproductive Health Consent or Withhold Consent for Student Participation form for your student. This is a new form, and even if you have already submitted other back-to-school forms, we still need your input on this specific matter. Your prompt attention and assistance are greatly appreciated as we ensure all necessary documentation is in place for the school year.
Free & Reduced Lunch Application: Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. The form is available in the HMS main office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/ More information is available here. This year, we are asking that all families complete and return the form, regardless of whether your student will eat a meal at school.
All For Lunch Program: We are excited to share that Hawfields is participating in the All For Lunch program, which helps ensure that every student has access to nutritious meals, regardless of their ability to pay. This incredible initiative is designed to eliminate lunch debt and provide all students with the opportunity to enjoy a healthy meal. You can learn more and support this important cause by visiting All For Lunch at Hawfields Middle School. Let’s work together to make sure no student goes without lunch!
Hawfields Boosters Fundraising: Our 1st Hawfields Booster Dine Out Night of the 2024-2025 school year is TOMORROW! Mark your calendars for Monday, September 23rd from 3:00 - 9:30 pm to Dine Out with us at Texas Roadhouse in Burlington. Make sure to drop your dinner receipt in the bucket by the front door so that we can earn 10% back on all HMS sales for that evening!
Hawfields Booster Back to School Breakfast: The Boosters need your help pulling off a Back to School Breakfast for our staff. Please use the SignUp Genius Link to let us know what you can bring. All items are due to the front office on Thursday, September 26th. Thank you in advance!
Athletics: As a reminder, ABSS has a clear bag policy for all athletic events. Please make sure that if you plan to bring a bag into any athletic event, it must be clear. Thank you in advance for your help with this policy. If you have any questions regarding athletics, contact our Athletic Director, Lavar Marsh at lavar_marsh@abss.k12.nc.us.
