Husky Families,
I hope you all had a restful and relaxing weekend. I want to take a moment to address the recent school threats within our school district. While these events have been unsettling, I am grateful for the overwhelming support from our community. Your vigilance and cooperation have been vital in ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and school. We remain committed to working together with local authorities to maintain a safe learning environment. Please know that the safety of our school is our top priority. If you have any questions, please reach out to me directly.
PowerSchool Parent Portal Account: In order to stay up to date about your child’s grades and attendance, it is very important that you download the Powerschool Parent Portal App. HERE is all the information you need to download the app and set up its features. Please let us know if we can help you. Please also take a moment to ensure that you have filled out your child's Back to School forms in PowerSchool.
How to find them:
Log in to PowerSchool Parent Portal
Click "Forms" in the menu.
Complete all listed Back to School forms
Pro tip: Don't forget to update the Medical forms too!
Access anywhere:
PowerSchool mobile app
Free & Reduced Lunch Application: Breakfast and lunch are not universally free for all students. If you would like your child to eat meals at school, you will either need to put money on their online account or you will need to secure a free/reduced lunch status by filling out the required form. The form is available in the HMS main office or you can fill it out online: https://www.lunchapplication.com/ More information is available here. This year, we are asking that all families complete and return the form, regardless of whether your student will eat a meal at school.
All For Lunch Program: We are excited to share that Hawfields is participating in the All For Lunch program, which helps ensure that every student has access to nutritious meals, regardless of their ability to pay. This incredible initiative is designed to eliminate lunch debt and provide all students with the opportunity to enjoy a healthy meal. You can learn more and support this important cause by visiting All For Lunch at Hawfields Middle School. Let’s work together to make sure no student goes without lunch!
Student Absent Notes: If your child is absent for part or all of a school day you can send in notes to our main office or you can take a picture and upload them to the absence form linked below. You can also find the absence form on our website under the parent section. Please allow 3-5 days before the absence is updated in PowerSchool.
Laptop Insurance Plan: To help protect against costly repairs, you can purchase an optional $25 insurance plan for student laptops. This insurance will cover any incidental damage to the chromebook. I highly recommend the insurance as your child will be taking the chromebook home each day. Please use this link to purchase the optional insurance.
Bus Transportation Notifications: Starting tomorrow, we will only send daily text messages about late or early buses to the families of students who are assigned to that specific bus in PowerSchool. It is very important that you have completed and updated your back-to-school forms in PowerSchool to ensure you receive these updates. If your student rides a late bus but you are not getting the notifications, please double-check the following: a) Make sure you have completed all the necessary forms in PowerSchool. b) Verify that your contact information is correct in PowerSchool. This will help ensure you receive important updates about your child’s bus.
Hawfields Booster Back to School Breakfast: The Boosters need your help pulling off a Back to School Breakfast for our staff. Please use the SignUp Genius Link to let us know what you can bring. All items are due to the front office on Thursday, September 26th. Thank you in advance!
Hawfields Boosters Fundraising: Our 1st Hawfields Booster Dine Out Night of the 2024-2025 school year is just a few short days away! Mark your calendars for Monday, September 23rd from 3:00 - 9:30 pm to Dine Out with us at Texas Roadhouse in Burlington. Make sure to drop your dinner receipt in the bucket by the front door so that we can earn 10% back on all HMS sales for that evening!
Athletics: As a reminder, ABSS has a clear bag policy for all athletic events. Please make sure that if you plan to bring a bag into any athletic event, it must be clear. Thank you in advance for your help with this policy.
