We are encouraging all families to complete an online lunch application for this school year.
Applications have to be filled out each year.

Bus Transportation
If your child is eligible for bus transportation, your child’s bus number, bus stop location, and time of AM and PM stops will be available at Open House.
Note that the bus stop times may need to be adjusted by the Transportation Department in the first few weeks of school or throughout the school year due to updates and route changes.
First Week of School
Guardians will be able to walk their child to class if they choose to during the first week of school during the times of 7:20am - 7:50am.
Parents will need to park in the front parking lot.
To begin our instructional day, parents will need to exit the building at 7:50am when the tardy bell rings.
Beginning Tuesday, September 5th, all 1st - 5th Grade students will need to walk themselves to class. There will be staff in the hallways to help direct them.
Beginning Monday, September 11th, all Kindergarten students will need to walk themselves to their classroom. There will be staff in the hallways to help direct them.
Morning Arrival
Car rider line will begin at 7:20 and close promptly at 7:50am.
Car riders are to be dropped off through the car rider line.
Please make sure your child is prepared to exit the car with their belongings.
Our staff will stop unloading car riders at 7:50am.
After 7:50am, you must park in the front of the school parking area and walk your child to the front office to be signed in.
Afternoon Dismissal
Bus Riders will be dismissed at 2:30pm
Car Circle will begin approximately 2:40pm
Parents must request a Car Rider Tag by filling out a Car Rider Tag Request Form
We require that ALL cars have a Highland-issued Car Rider Tag or a Temporary Car Rider Pass (which is issued if you call ahead and make a change to your child’s dismissal for the day).
Any cars who do not have a Highland-issued Car Rider Tag or a Child with a Temporary Car Rider Pass will be directed to park and walk into our front office for release of students.
Parents must have a Highland-Issued Car Rider Tag visible for the person who is calling for students via the walkie.
Students going home by car will wait with their classmates inside the classroom until their name is called.
Parents are asked to drive up, using both lanes, and wait behind the designated area. School personnel will funnel cars single-file to the area where students are waiting.
Class Dojo
Highland will be using Class Dojo for communication.
All families need to connect to Class Dojo to receive important notifications and information.
You will also be able to communicate directly with your child’s teacher.
While this is a great communication tool, please understand that our teachers are busy during the school day teaching students and meeting during their planning period, therefore teachers will not be able to respond immediately to questions via the app.
Our Highland website will be updated throughout the school year with helpful information. We encourage you to follow us on social media to see the fun and engaging things we will be doing this school year. Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to seeing everyone!
See you soon!
Ms. Chandler, Principal
