Who is SILT?
How are members selected?
Representatives of the assistant principals, instructional personnel, instructional support personnel, and teacher assistants shall be elected by their respective groups by secret ballot.
PTO should elect 3 parents representative of our school demographics to attend all Leadership meetings.
Which areas of the school are represented?

What happens if a member is no longer able to serve?
Instructional reps would be voted on by their respective peers in secret ballots
Vote would need to happen before the next meeting
If a member of the Leadership Team cannot attend a meeting, he/she may send a representative as a guest only with no voting rights. This person may not attend closed sessions.
What roles are necessary on the SILT
Chairperson: drafts agenda, facilitates meeting
Parliamentarian: lead votes, procedural, time
Secretary: keeps record of meetings (minutes) and votes
Each member would be responsible for passing information onto their respective departments.
Length of Term and Term Limits
2 year term for Instructional Representatives and Parent Representatives with no term limits for election to membership
Administrative Change Clause - If there is a change of Administration during the 2 year term, elections for new membership can be postponed for one year by a majority vote of the Leadership Team in order to continue smooth operation and leadership of BMS.
What is the purpose of the SILT?
The purpose of the SILT is to develop policies and practices to improve student learning and achievement through the creation and implementation of the School Improvement Plan. The SILT will make decisions for the school to support and improve instructional programs and practices, along with decisions for the operation of the school to meet the needs of all students.
When will SILT meet?
Meetings will occur on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month.
Meetings will begin at 3:45 pm
School Leadership Team members are expected to attend all meetings. If team members are unable to attend the meeting, they must contact the Chairperson in advance of the meeting.

**Specific student names/data will NOT be discussed or mentioned in Leadership Meetings.
**Grade-level concerns will be discussed at Grade-level meetings (with an administrator present.) If the concern cannot be addressed at grade-level, the administrator will make the decision to bring the issue to the Leadership Team for discussion.
