Welcome back Tiger Cubs! We are looking forward to finally beginning an amazing 2023-2024 school year. We hope you are as excited as we are to begin the new year! Here is some important information to get everyone started on a positive note.
First Day of School
Monday, September 11, is the first day of school for all first through fifth grade students. Kindergarten students will attend on a staggered entry schedule Monday, September 11 and Tuesday, September 12. Kindergarten families should have received a phone call with your staggered entry day. All of our Kindergarten students will attend on Wednesday, September 13.
Monday, September 11, will be a 3-hour delayed start for all students. Our building will open at 10:30 Monday morning. Families, you may park and bring your child/children into the building to meet your child's teacher. We respectfully request that all families exit the building by 10:50 in order for us to begin our day.
Families, you may also park and bring your child/children into the building for the remainder of the first week of school between 7:30 and 7:50. Again, we request that all families exit the building by 7:50 in order for us to begin the school day. We will have additional staff members throughout the building to help assist students to their classrooms.
Arrival and Dismissal
School hours for students are 7:50 until 2:35. Morning drop-off will begin at 7:30 each morning in the front circle. Please do not allow your child out of the car until an adult or safety patrol has arrived to open the door. We will do everything possible to get you through our morning drop-off line as soon as possible.
Afternoon car dismissal will begin as soon as buses have left the lot, typically around 2:40 each day. We have again supplied car rider tags for families to display in the front window. Having a name tag displayed in your car window helps make the pick-up process much quicker. All car riders must be picked up using the car-rider line in the front circle.
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast and lunch are no longer free for all students. If you would like for your child/children to eat school lunch, you will need to either put money on their online school account or secure a free lunch status by completing the appropriate paperwork. We strongly encourage all families to complete a free lunch form. Paper copies can be picked up at the school or online applications can be completed at https://www.lunchapplication.com/. The cost of breakfast this year will be $2.00 per day and lunch will be $3.10 per day. Families do need to complete a new application each year. If you have any questions, please reach out to our front office.
Meet the Teacher
We will host our BEJ Meet the Teacher event on Tuesday, September 12 from 4:00 until 6:00. We hope you can all make it out to the building to say hello!
Family Communication
BEJ is excited to once again use ClassTag to communicate with families. We will use this communication tool to share school and classroom news and events. This platform also allows our teachers to communicate directly with individual families. We will also continue to post important updates on our website and BEJ app.
