There's a lot to LOVE ❤️️ this month and ABSS wants to shout out some couples who work in our district. We asked staff couples in the district to share their story. First up is Bear & Erika Bryant! Bear is the current Principal of Western Alamance High School. He started out in Guilford County but moved to ABSS in 2016. Erika is an Interventionist of Smith Elementary. She has spent most of her career in ABSS, teaching at Sylvan, EM Holt, BEJ, and Smith. Here is what Bear had to say: "Erika and I started dating our junior year of high school and have been together ever since (23 years!). We love the community feel here and are grateful for the many friends we have made in the district over the years. We are glad to call ABSS home!" #ABSSAskStaff

Here are some photos from the special assembly at @SylvanElem last Friday! These fifth graders are performing West African rhythms and dances thanks to the Simar Center for Performing Arts. It is extra special since this marks the sixth year Sylvan has hosted these artists.

The sun was shining during recess today at Highland Elementary and these two paused for the perfect photo. We hope it brightens your day! ☀️ #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

The Eastern Alamance Debate Team competed in the North Carolina Ethics Bowl at UNC Chapel Hill last Saturday. The team spent months preparing for this competition, in which they had to develop and defend ethical positions on 15 cases. They did a fantastic job, coming in 3rd overall out of 20 teams. 🥉 Please offer these students and their coaches congratulations on their hard work and great performance! 👏 #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

Fourth Graders at Altamahaw-Ossipee Elementary have been learning about North Carolina Government this week. He also presented the school with a brand new North Carolina flag flown over the State Capital Building in honor of the AO Elementary family! #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

Kindergarten students at Elon Elementary recently celebrated a very happy Australia Day! 🇦🇺 Each grade level in our global schools focuses on a region in the world, with Oceania being Kindergarten's region of study. Students enjoyed participating in a range of fun, hands-on learning activities about the animals, landmarks and culture of Australia. 🐨🦘️The day featured an Aussie snack challenge where students prepared, tasted and then rated some popular snacks unique to Australia. There were many big thumbs up reviews for the lamington bites (sponge cake dipped in chocolate sauce and coconut flakes) and fairy bread (sprinkles glued onto bread with butter). The crackers dipped in vegemite received mixed reviews. 🤔 #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

Join us in congratulating our ABSS All District Honor Band students who performed this weekend at the North Carolina School of Science and Math in Durham. #StudentCenteredFutureFocused
