Time for another #ABSSAskStaff Spotlight on Couples! 💗 David is the Head Basketball Coach 🏀 of Southern Middle School and Erin is the Principal of AO Elementary. Erin says, "We met at Eastlawn Elementary School during my first year of teaching. David introduced himself to my parents on the first workday as I was moving in my teaching supplies because he said he knew he was going to marry me. Working together was such a fun time! Even though we no longer work in the same building, we have loved being a part of ABSS!"

It's Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) and students in French class at Graham High School made masks to celebrate the occasion. 🎭 #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

Consider taking a break with 4⃣ minutes of All Things Considered on NPR as our very own Meredith Draughn gives advice for how educators and families can support their students as they navigate the transition to "post-pandemic" life: https://www.npr.org/2023/02/20/1155399753/school-counselor-child-anxiety-mental-health

Today we recognize an individual who worked hard to ensure equitable outcomes for students. Dr. Dorothy Yarborough was a champion and her legacy will live on. Thank you for your dedication to ABSS students and families.

Reminder: There is an early release day and teacher workday this week for all schools and more coming up in March for Early College. Please save these dates! 🗓 ✅

Sam McDonald (senior) and Ava Wetter (junior) from Eastern Alamance High School performed Friday at the Mars Hill University Choral Festival. Todd & Brandi McKinney have been working in ABSS since 1997! Todd is the PE Teacher at Newlin Elementary and Brandi is the ESL Teacher at AO Elementary and Western Alamance Middle School. Brandi shared, "Todd and I started dating in July 1992. I was 19 and he was 21. We got married in July 1997 and moved from PA to NC in August 1997 to begin working for ABSS. He started at Broadview Middle as a PE teacher and I started at Haw River as a 3rd-grade teacher. Todd moved to Newlin Elementary in 1999 and has been there ever since. I taught at Haw River for 10 years before moving to Hillcrest and then AO. We have loved working in the same field. It has allowed us to have a lot of time together with our children as they grew up and enjoy some epic vacations." #ABSSAskStaff
