Shedding new light 💡 on history! During their specials time with Ms. House, the 4th-grade students at Elon Elementary learned about the history of the North Carolina coast, the ⚓️ Graveyard of the Atlantic, and the importance of lighthouses in the 1700s and 1800s. To showcase their knowledge, they created a digital timeline using Google Drawings, a slideshow presentation, a Google Earth 🌍 mapping project, and handcrafted model lighthouses. The students are excited to exhibit their impressive creations, which demonstrate their deep understanding of this fascinating era in coastal history. #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

South Graham Elementary continued to celebrate acts of kindness with two exciting events this week. First, 49 students who completed their punch cards enjoyed a fantastic Skating Party at Roll-a-Bout. 🛼 Then, it was time to hit the track as 15 students celebrated with some friendly racing competition in Mario Kart. Officer Edwards joined in, though he was hit by a few green shells and put back in 6th place! 🎮 These events showcased our students' dedication to making a positive impact through their acts of kindness. Way to go!

We're so proud of our talented Broadview Middle School students! They wrote and illustrated their very own books to read with the Eastlawn Elementary students this week. 📚 The Broadview students shared their one-of-a-kind creations with kindergarteners, 1st graders, and 2nd graders, providing literacy support in the dual language classes as well. It was heartwarming to see these young authors set such wonderful learning examples for students at Eastlawn Elementary!

🌟 Congratulations to Moses and Madison for being this month's STAR Student & Staff! They were recognized at tonight's Board Meeting. 🌠 From Assistant Principal Sparks - "Moses is a hard worker and so kind to his peers. He always displays the Western way!" 🌠 From Principal Brown - "Ms. Pierce does an outstanding job modeling and showing students a variety of career paths that are available for students after high school. Just recently, Ms. Pierce visited each of the high school registration fairs to advertise all that Graham HS has to offer, in this specialty program. We appreciate her willingness to market the program and also put her EMT skills to use, whenever the need arrives." 🙌 Join us in celebrating our STAR Student & Staff of the month! #StudentCenreredFutureFocused

💕 The spirit of kindness has been embraced at Grove Park Elementary this month through the #KindnessMattersNC Challenge! The Jr. Bulldog's Student Government sponsored a bulletin board and food drive to spread kindness. When students were "caught" doing an act of kindness, their names and acts were added to a displayed heart chain. The Student Government also held a food for our #ABSSCommunity. ✨These young leaders are shining examples of kindness in action! #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

Three talented alumni from Cummings High School recently played alongside stars Jennifer Hudson and CoCo Jones at the NBA All-Star Game: Mirona Jackson (Class of 2021), Destiny Currie (Class of 2023), and Malachi Thompson (Class of 2020). The South Graham Elementary Kindness Club 💖 (Nine passionate 4th & 5th graders) teamed up with support staff to organize a "Hearts for Hunger" food drive benefiting local food pantries.🥫 The goal was to collect 1,000 items, rewarded by an ice cream party. In just 4 days, students smashed the goal. Principal Stamper then upped the goal challenge: collect 3,000 items and she'd come in dressed as a unicorn. 🦄 Challenge accepted - the grand total was 3,352 items! Mrs. Pollock's 2nd grade class alone donated over 500 items. Thanks to everyone's generosity, we were able to share donations with 5 community food pantries and 4 additional school pantries. 🙌 The giving spirit is alive and well at South Graham! This is a great example of what can happen when students come together for a common cause. #ABSSCommunity #StudentCenteredFutureFocused

Did you thank a bus driver this week? Now's your chance! We want to send a huge thank you to all of the amazing school bus drivers in the Alamance-Burlington School System who safely transport our students to and from school each day. We encourage everyone to take a moment and show appreciation for these wonderful drivers who are such a vital part of our school communities. A simple "thank you" goes a long way, as does a smile or friendly wave when you see a bus drive by. 💛 🚌 #LovetheBusWeek #BusDriverAppreciationWeek

Today was a special day in ABSS as we celebrated the 💯 day of school. To mark the occasion, Hillcrest Elementary School hosted their "100 Days, 100 Dads" event, inviting dads, grandpas, uncles, and other father figures from the #ABSSCommunity to have lunch with our students. And show up they did - with over 400 guests signed up, the cafeteria was "buzzing" 🐝 during all the grade-level lunch times! There was an outpouring of support to make this day memorable for our kids. The timing couldn't have been better either, coming right after Valentine's Day and Hillcrest's Valentine's Dance last night. 💕 Special thanks to our student leaders who welcomed all the guests and directed traffic through the packed hallways. It was heartwarming to see so many community members take time out of their day to eat with our students. The smiles and hugs were plentiful. Thank you for showing up for our kids! 🙌
