Two smiling individuals at a retirement celebration. On the left, a man with white hair and mustache wearing a purple ABSS Technology polo shirt and khaki pants holds a small prop. On the right, a woman with blonde hair wearing a black top holds a "NO WORK" sign on a stick. They're standing in front of a colorful retirement banner against a beige wall.

The Alamance-Burlington School System community is celebrating the remarkable careers of two long-standing employees this week as Todd and Stacy Fitch prepare to enter retirement after decades of dedicated service to our district.

Todd Fitch: Four Decades of Technological Leadership

Todd Fitch's journey with ABSS has spanned an incredible 40 years, beginning in the mid-1980s when he joined the district in a part-time capacity. He later transitioned to a full-time role in 1997, where he has since become an indispensable part of our technology infrastructure.

As the district's Lead Network Administrator in recent years, Todd has been instrumental in shaping the technological landscape of ABSS. His wide-ranging expertise—from electrical work and server administration to systems management—has ensured our schools remain at the forefront of educational technology.

Todd's leadership in expanding wireless and telecom technologies throughout the district has been particularly noteworthy, providing the connectivity essential for modern teaching and learning. Beyond his core responsibilities, he championed critical security initiatives, including camera systems and door access solutions that have enhanced safety across all our facilities.

Todd's contributions often happened behind the scenes, but their impact has been felt by every teacher and student in our district. His willingness to come in late at night or on weekends to ensure systems were operational for the next school day demonstrated his extraordinary commitment to ABSS.

Stacy Fitch: 27 Years of Testing Excellence

Stacy Fitch began her educational career as a high school mathematics teacher before transitioning to the world of testing and accountability, where she has devoted 27 years to ABSS.

Known for her signature phone greeting—"How can I help you?"—Stacy has built a reputation for exceptional service and genuine care. Her colleagues note that this wasn't just a professional courtesy but a sincere reflection of her commitment to supporting others.

Throughout her tenure, Stacy worked tirelessly to provide timely test results to schools, often arriving early and staying late to accommodate the varied schedules of staff across the district. Her development of streamlined processes and procedures for test administrations has been invaluable, consistently reducing the administrative burden on schools while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy.

Stacy has always been an advocate for ABSS in regional meetings. The relationships she's built with school test coordinators, teachers, and principals over the years are a testament to her collaborative approach and positive attitude.

A Legacy of Service

Together, Todd and Stacy Fitch have contributed nearly 70 years of service to the Alamance-Burlington School System. Their dedication, expertise, and unwavering support have helped shape the district's success and positively impacted countless students and colleagues.

As they prepare for this next chapter in their lives, the entire ABSS community extends heartfelt gratitude for their exceptional service and wishes them a fulfilling and joy-filled retirement.

Their legacy will continue to influence our district for years to come.
